These grooming gangs are Islamic. How Muslims or anyone else feels about that is irreverent. We won't agree on hiding the truth just because the truth can be unpalatable.

I freely admit I have habits, or as I prefer to describe them, standards. I prefer truth to lies and if I see lies then I will call them out. If that happens frequently then that's only because the lies tend to be repeated. I also know that many would like this place to be a cosy right wing echo chamber where everyone can live in a bubble of confirmation bias. There are plenty of closed entry forums where people like me get excluded. If that's what people want then I suggest they join them and then they won't be "bored" by me. This, so far as I know, is a football supporters forum, which has a News?Politics sub section open to ALL supporters, whatever their views might be and however they might wish to express them. Whether such a section is wise is a matter for the site owners, but whilst it does as a supporter I will use it.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

The grooming gangs are NOT Islamic. They are criminal. The crimes they commit are not carried out by Islam. They might be carried out by the criminals in the name of Islam, but that is a different matter. That distinction might not be seen by some, or thought important, but I disagree. I think we need to be very careful about how we present our reactions so that we keep all the good people, whatever their personal religious beliefs might be, on the side of the law abiding so we can all, working together, isolate the criminals.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Unspeakable acts have been done in the name of religion since religions began. Western society has gradually learned better as religious belief declined. Some have some catching up to do.
