One thing is for certain. When new stand comes expect the HF to grow on that lower tier. Until then, I hope there is a compromise!

That will be a great time but it won’t happen until then and immature strops achieve nothing. What if we sell Zaha in the summer, struggle with a mixture of things, atmosphere at home included, and get relegated.

It clearly would be great to have the HF back in place, but it would be pretty unfair to say the atmosphere wasn't good last night. A lot of people started chants and this morning's papers comment on the raucous atmosphere. I do miss the guy with the drum, as he could quickly get everyone on the same song-can he be given a ticket!

I thought I was the only one that felt this. I thought a lot more people were singing than normal, especially around me. Ok there were quiet times, but there always is.

We're going round in circles.

To summarise as I see it...

HF wanted to move behind the goal.
Club would not move existing season ticket holders (quite rightly)
HF disbanded
Most people agree the atmosphere suffered.
Not a lot can be done now this season as the HF gave up their seats.
Hopefully something can be sorted for next season

Many Palace fans hope that this can be sorted out quickly so that the HF can return- surely a compromise can be made but then again the area that is occupied by the HF helps when corner kicks are taken and the opposition just hate having to take corners under all that noise and 'banter'! The HF helped support Rooney with a few 10p pieces I recall...

Hope some common sense prevails that gives a reason for the HF to sing once again!

Just wondered why the HF actually gave up their seats couldn't they have kept them, dressed 'normal' and not sang. Then at some point in the season if some sort of compromise could be found maybe for next season they could have been 'revived' (or is it expecting too much for them to come to games in club shirts? )

When you say 'compromise', what you really mean is that the people in C block are moved against their wishes, thus showing that if the HF scweam and scweam and scweam, daddy (SP) will give in.

Hope not.

My version of compromise would be that the club are communicating with current supporters that are in favour of the HF. There seems to be a fair few. If there are pockets of these in blocks A-E, which stand anyway, then the club helps facilitate ticketing to group together. The HF compromise by expanding their number/those singing on the clubs terms but continue to be given dispensation to allow standing, displays, drums etc.

That never stopped Rooney winning and scoring.

The HF were a big part of our promotion and a few seasons of against the odds survival but recently the singing on top of a drum and 100 people bobbing up and down has been with dangerous attacks or a bit of skill or aggressive play on our part.

Sure the songs were all sung in 10 minutes to then be followed by ole ole Eagles etc but it was the first time in a new experience. Or was everyone here sex gods when they broke their cherry?

Agree with both your comments spartakev2.

HF have done a great job over the years, there's no doubting that. I remember not that long ago (relatively speaking) sitting in an empty Block V of the Arthur with just my Dad and brother for company on a cold, rainy Tuesday evening and I probably could have shouted a conversation with someone in the family stand if I wanted to, that's how quiet it was.

And by changing that, rightly so over the years they have got special treatment from the club. There's a blind eye turned to the standing, tickets for our landmark games are put aside for the HF (promotion final, FA Cup Final, etc.) to keep them together and get our atmosphere rocking.

But there has to be a line. I can't detect truth from fiction in this mega thread, but I think spartakev2's first comment sums it up nicely without emotion from either side (assuming it's accurate!). You can't as a non officially sanctioned group of supporters expect the club to shift people to accommodate you in this manner. It would create a tier system of sorts where the HF would be seen as "priority" over other season ticket holders, some of which might have had their seat since the Holmesdale was rebuilt. On top of that who decides who's HF and who isn't? Some bloke down the pub? Hardly seems fair to those who might be on a waiting list for a seat in that block or find themselves moved through no fault of their own.

It's just a step too far. I hope for one that they have kept their seats and are just incognito for now. Seems a pity to cut your nose off to spite your face and to stop doing something that they genuinely seemed to enjoy doing every match day, as well as improve the atmosphere at Selhurst.

The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots

They were HF... recognise them from the front. West Ham away a couple of seasons back we were right next to them and the drum – seen them grow from their younger selves into who they are now.

I have to say I think they are a loss for Palace, but you can't shove 100 people out of their prime position seats and down into a corner. Most people behind the goal have probably been going for many many years to get them. What else can the club do?!

People are saying here have a £100 off your next years season ticket and you'll have a worse view for the rest of your life. Ummm, no thanks.

The only way the club can fiddle this is to make all the lower safe standing and make everyone re-apply for positions.

Which seems a sensible option, but has the safe standing thing been resolved?
Agree that nobody would seriously take the £100 option, even a couple of seasons free wouldn't tempt me.
Also it's more than just the 100 odd HF. Having stood in Block B immediately behind them for as long as they've existed I know that most of those in the half dozen rows behind them would want to move with them.
Something has to be sorted. All the bleating about them being no more important than any other supporter seems a bit hollow now.
We always start the season with a massive display, why didn't all the other important supporters organise something yesterday?

There MUST be a marked difference in terms of how opposition players feel with and without the HF. Especially as someone said earlier, corner kick taking, throw ins by the Holmesdale.

No other ground had it, and our fear factor has certainly been compromised, without a doubt.
