I do. And I’m an old fart with no affiliation to the HF.

The decision should have been based on what is in the best interests of the club, balanced against the prejudice to the fans who need to make way.

People have eloquently made the case for the HF in this thread. No one is suggesting that the 100 odd HF are ‘better’ supporters. But they are more influential that any random bunch of season ticket holders, on and off the pitch, and their unique value as an organised and effective force should be recognised.

Balance their impact on the atmosphere at SP and our reputation in the game against the harm that will be done to the displaced. No one is denying those fans the right to retain a season ticket in the Holmesdale. They will just be sitting in a different seat. The prejudice is minimal.

Sometimes we have to act in the interests of the common good and if that means shifting a few fans then so be it.

We don’t have the finances to compete with the big boys in terms of winning silverware. But we can and do outperform them in the stands. I enjoy belonging to a club whose support is the envy of the league and has become a defining feature of ‘being Palace’. I will be very sad if this unique attribute, one that sets us apart from the rest, is needlessly thrown away.

I recognise that to some extent I bask in the reflected glory of the HF. I suspect there are others on here that do so too, but without due acknowledgment to the people concerned.

I respect and applaud the efforts of the HF. I implore any of their number who happens to read this to build bridges and be the bigger man - for the benefit of our beloved club and all Palace fans everywhere.

Completely agree with this post . I do bask in theeeir reflected glory. How poetic, its like art ....see how important the HF are.

What a load of nonsense.
There was the usual terrific atmosphere at the Liverpool match.
Apart from the annoying drum and the big flags I didn't miss the "fanatics" at all.
Actually I found them to be a bit of an embarrassment.

I think their 'boycott' was misjudged. However, there is a bigger picture beyond egos and selfishness which is about club image and match day atmosphere.
Ultimately, the owners have to do what is best for the club and it might be that upsetting a hundred or so supporters is necessary for the greater good.
If someone offered me two years free season tickets, I would snatch their hand off, especially as there will be another 6k seat available soon and people will probably shuffle around.

——————————————————————————————
I am not so sure it is that simple just to move 100 people, I think that maybe not the biggest stumbling block I wonder when the club thought about what they might be starting by almost agreeing that they can stand in the centre a big can of worms would be opened. Remember we are supposed to be sitting but more would start / need to stand I can hear the cries already and the powers that be would be shutting the stand I could see it getting very messy. Am I not seeing it right or can the HF not see what would happen. Safe standing would sort it out but will be years away so the new stand would be the best opportunity for a reorganisation of seats until these two options come up no way.

First 10 minutes were ok, the rest was dreadful. Liverpool outsung us at home. When was the last time an away team did that?

Second half was abysmal, worst it's been in years.

But fans have the right to support their club how they see fit. If they have paid money yet want to stand arms folded for 90 minutes then that's up to them, we can't force them to sing

I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm OK with that.

And to add lovely to hear great classics such as "you're shagging Will Young" and new chants such as "Ooooh Tommy Robinson".

Were you singing or do you sing?

Of the hundreds of BBS whiners, they can’t all be singers so are whining nobody is doing it ‘for the club’ or ‘the greater good’ etc I’ve read recently. I bet their voices weren’t hoarse on Tuesday morning either.

I've been standing towards the back of Block B for a good few years, and whilst there have undoubtedly been worse atmospheres than last night's during that time, it has to be said that Selhurst really was very quiet yesterday evening.
I won't discuss the HF situation here as there's already a thread on that, but what I would like to highlight is one non-HF related reason why I thought the atmosphere was so muted last night: the people who've moved in to the front of Block B.
First and foremost, does anyone know whether the majority of them are season ticket holders or just day trippers? Either way, whilst at the back of the Block we really were trying our hardest to get the noise going, those at the front seemed, to me at least, to be more or less entirely silent all game.
Doubtless I'll be accused of telling other Palace fans how they should support their club here, but I really had hoped that those who took up the space left behind by the HF (as they have every right to do) would at least join in with the songs starting at the back, and provide that link in the corner between Blocks A/B and the Arthur.
But, as aforementioned, the first 10ish rows seemed more or less totally quiet all game. Did anyone else notice/have a view on this?
I'm not trying to be disrespectful to those who had tickets down at the front (some of whom, for all I know, might actually still be HF), but we really could've done with their help last night.
We don't know when the HF will be back, so we've got to try and make the best of the situation we're in, which at the very least means getting all of Block B rocking - hopefully things will improve in this regard over the coming games.

id say it is now the day trippers area, i live in Ireland , born in croydon bred in addington, i try to get over as much as i can. i reserved my tickets for the brighton match and i usually get block H row 2-4 , i was told this time the only seats they have available now are at the front of block B or in the AW. the people sitting there could have been scoucers or the worst kind london scoucers .

oh yeah ,fcuk off brighton.

Hope not.

Would you have been one of the ones to move if it had worked in there favour or do you sit elsewhere ?

Well one thing’s for sure. Steve Parish won’t be able to go on any Palace radio or podcast show

(after our one and only available striker gets that inevitable injury we said would happen and received the arrogant/football naive reply of ‘what if the sun doesn’t rise tomorrow’)

and sound quite broken on the chat show saying things like ‘why can’t the rest of the fans be like the HF, they sing, jump up and down and support the team that way unconditionally.’

Well they’re not there and nobody is doing that there and the HF aren’t doing it anywhere in the ground either. Not only that but loads of whingers regarding the atmosphere obviously don’t add anything to the atmosphere either going by the numbers are the fact they post on the BBS during the earlier parts of the first half or any part of the match.

Nice one. Not many prepared to contribute but moan instead. W&nkers.

I’m not so sure that we missed them that much
We played well against a top team....Liverpool fans are always noisy ...however, to get the ground really going you need to score a goal or two , HF or no HF ....
Has we scored an equaliser I think the ground would have been rocking and this conversation would not be happening

I was in the Arthur Block Z and we stood the whole match and sung for pretty much all of it.
Not by design just happened to get tickets here and no one sat down.

It was strangely muted at times but the fans gave it a good go.
The support for Benteke despite having a bit of a stinker shows we are not a bunch of whingers and the whole crowd rising to applaud AWB off was heartwarming.

I could 'hear' Liverpool but couldn't tell you what they were singing. The away support is always going to be loud as you have a few thousand die-hard supporters who are generally more vocal as they are confined to one area.
To say they 'outsung us' is generous though.

What people also have to remember is that HOL and BBS only represent a fraction of the crowd. A lot of people would have turned up and not realised the HF had disbanded. It will take a while for new groups of singers to organise themselves and congregate in the same area.

Despite some chavvy elements I would say the HF were extremely well organised. The displays obviously took a lot of effort. Without wanting us to go all corporate and get the clackers out - I do wonder if the club could organise displays? Brighton had Blue and White A4 cards around most of their ground and it looked quite decent.
Surely there are talented people within CPFC who could organise something special? The Roy Hodgson display was very very good. Hats off to the HF - apart from the display where the palace looked like 2 p****es the rest have been brilliant.

Overall the Liverpool atmosphere left me with mixed feelings. The crowd are used to being led by the HF and seemed genuinely lost without them.
However it was great not to have the drum for 90 minutes and I LOVED hearing the 'Eagles' chant used more.

A few old classics got an airing e.g."Andy Johnson's Magic" bizarrely enough.

If the HF do come back in some form it would be great to have periods without the drum and great for them to join in with the other songs going round. Add that to some displays and flags and you'd have the perfect scenario.

You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name.
