That's typical I'm afraid.
The club should have consulted the people in Block E,in fact they should have contacted every season ticket holder in the lower Holmesdale, before making a decision , because by putting the HF in the middle it will have a knock on affect on all the people in the lower.

I'm not part of the HF, but home games without the ultras-led atmosphere are dreadful. Look forward to my Selhurst visits with all my heart, but dreading Saturday against Wolves. Their concentrated away support will piss all over our efforts as, in all likelihood, will their team against our uninspired bunch.

The sooner we get the HF and their drum back in action, the sooner we can regain what had become a large part of our identity. Hopefully that positivity will then also transmit itself to the players who, arguably like the club as a whole right now, appear to be losing their way.

Creating noise and waving flags is not in any way unique. Watching the Champions League updates programme on BT sport last night nearly every single ground had fans up one end non stop singing and waving flags. Only one or two grounds didn't. In Europe it seems unique if you dont have a section of fans that do that. And people say Palace has become famous for it. In England possibly but in Europe? No way. Torino, Dortmund, Olympiacos, Sevilla. Those clubs are famous for their hard core singing section which is far greater in numbers and noise than anything HF have ever done. Even in this country Liverpool are probably the most well known for it.

Palace should be applauded for trying to create a good atmosphere at the game but really, Lets not get carried away. As for us signing quality players because of them, this is laughable. Because Meyer said he had heard about our amazing fans? He's being polite, paying the club compliments, paying lip service. No more than that. Trust me if a quality player said he wanted to join Palace and his reason was because of the fans everyone would (rightly) think he has a screw loose

Turn the clock back to the terraces and this thread would not exist.
Has PC improved our lives? That is the far bigger question here.

What are you talking about? I'm the most anti PC person I know (and I know a couple of Millwall fans and a lot of Northerners!)
Are you truly trying to say all those against the HF are PC brigade? That is such a moronic statement.
Almost as thick as the idiot who posted that all Palace fans that dont love/support/want to be HF are prawn sandwich brigade.

This is a very big issue in moving them there. Will they suddenly agree to sit down? Of course not. So the whole lower tier will also have to stand if they want to see the game. This will result in fines for the club and quite possibly the threat of closure of the stand.
Those of us that can remember late 90s/early 00s Jordan sent letters out to all of us begging us to sit down or the police were going to close the stand.

I gather from your user name you sit in the Arthur therefore get to experience the atmosphere without having to be amongst them. This is the difference

You're more than 10 years out of date. Stewards don't bother anymore, and legislation is powerless.

Safe standing will be legal in the Prem by December, Spurs have already put it in

1)Under current legislation EPL stadiums have to be all seater
2) There is a very grey area if people have to actually sit in them. However if there was to be an incident due to crowd failing to use seats and someone died, I am fairly sure that corporate manslaughter proceedings would take place and would succeed both against club and its directors,
3) Safe Standing will not be in by December, however trials will probably start next season. Trials will be decided on a club by club basis based upon detailed plans put forward by clubs.
4) The club has issued the statement re the Lower Holmesdale and the singing section. The actual details will decide if authorities take action and/or refuse a safe standing trial application by club.
5)The safe standing trials will probably run for 5 years unless there is a serious incident. The fact that there have been no serious incidents at stadiums since all seater stadium became law can not be ignored. There will need to be a period of extensive testing and trials before the law makers are persuaded to make changes
6)The planning authorities may also decide to review the planning application for the new stand in view of these material changes
