Anyone would think that the atmosphere at Palace was a recent thing. I have been in crowds at Selhurst of 36,000 v Peterborough, 38000 v Millwall, 40,000 v Man Utd and 51,000 v Burnley and there was great atmosphere then.

I am not against a decent atmosphere but I have consistently argued that the HF were WRONG to throw their teddies out of the pram and now cause a lot of loyal fans to be moved. Also I don't accept for one moment that with the HF and a good atmosphere that it translates into wins on the pitch or that we might get relegated without them.

The atmosphere was never that great relative to other clubs even in the good old days. You can't compare the mostly standing days to today anyway, it is nowhere near the same. What matters now is the difference between Selhurst with and without a singing section.
I guess that the petulant behaviour of the HF and the inconvenience to some Season ticket holders, although issues in themselves, are not the primary concern.
The team likes the support and the team must come first.

Therefore, no HF presence at all this season because they didn't get their own way. And they say that they're fans? Where are these people this season? Sitting in the Main Stand sulking?

To me, this seems like petulant behaviour.

No, not in the main stand but dotted around the Holmesdale upper and lower tiers, singing and clapping alongside everyone else, so not sure the dummy spitting and sulking comments are accurate. What it has highlighted is that the atmosphere is poor without them. It worked because there was a sustained and focussed area driving the rest of the chanting. At the moment it's like an orchestra without a conductor. Sometimes loud but all over the place.
On a separate note (not aimed at CF) I don't see any of the anti HF brigade stepping up to organise a display, maybe if they showed a bit more commitment there might be some credence to their argument.

So why not just continue as they were? Why not stay in the places they always occupied, a position from which they made their reputation in the first place?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Again that is secondary. What matters is that the team gets support.
I agree with Cucking, I'm not sure why a move to the middle will make such a difference but I would say that all the effort made by the HF should be recognised when considering their wishes. In this instance, they have behaved like a bunch of sulky teenagers and that would throw some doubt on whether they put their own image over the team's interests. Despite all those things, I still believe that the best decision has been made to try and make the best of a bad situation. The best possible support for the team is paramount.

That wasnt the question, I wasn’t asking about statistics.. Read it again. It’s either a yes, no or you won’t answer.

“PZ do you agree that generally the HF help increase the positive atmosphere? Yes or No? Very simple question - yes or no?”

That was the question.

That was the question.

And I answered you by saying I was not against a positive atmosphere OK.

I would have thought that the ground being full every home game is a positive thing for the team.

A ground full of quiet people is not much use. Look at the Emirates.

I personally feel that to much is made of the effect they have on the team... Now I won't lie the HF have been good for the club... yeas I agree that they have made the atmosphere better... Not on an enormous scale but yes they have..

Now here's the thing.... The HF have no effect on how the team play... some might not like that but it's true... I think we sometimes overestimate the effect fans have on the team... footballers, generally will say in interviews what they think the fans want to hear.. that's why they have media training.. but ultimately the team will play well or poorly based on how they get on and the coaching they get.

I've been watching Palace since 1987... I have been involved in games where our supporters have been amazing... A great atmosphere is nothing new to Selhurst Park..

What I don't agree with, is throwing toys out the pram because they don't get there own way.. No player or set of fans is bigger than the club... A true fan stands by the club no matter what.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Won't disagree with that, I stand immediately behind them in Block B, (or where they used to stand). The best solution I've heard is to locate to the wedge between the Holmesdale and the Arthur. The logic being that the sound would roll out to two stands.
Presume that wanting to move to Block E would be based on being behind the goal for the play off final at Wembley which worked brilliantly.
I have a huge amount of respect for what the HF have done, do I think it'll be better in Block E, really not sure.
