Surely even the most hardcore HF fan doesn't actually believe that

I can just imagine the headlines in the media "Max Meyer chooses Palace over Arsenal and Liverpool because their supporters make more noise"

It seems some posters do believe that! The sway of a few kids singing and waving banners is influencing top class footballers, not the huge salaries anymore.
How times change.

Max Meyer signs.....fantastic coup for the club! One of the first things he says is that he can’t wait to experience the “perfect atmosphere” at Selhurst Park..........I assume that no one told him about the end of the HF. Whatever anyone says, it will not be the same, at least for some time. Emphasises what a huge loss this is to the club.....it is possible that the great atmosphere was a significant reason why he chose to come to Palace. I say again, really sad.

So what would you suggest? That the club bend over backwards to please the HF? Send letters out to everyone thats behind the goal saying sorry but you're moving seats regardless how long you've been there. But hey we have some good news for you, the seats that the HF dont want any more? You can have one on those!

The hf, the first group of fanatics, who, are so fanatical, they must stop supporting the very club, that, they we're once so fanatical about.

They’re still attending apparently.

Whoopee doo. Dont get me wrong I love the fact that they make a lot of noise and start a lot of the singing. But we don't NEED a drum or NEED to dress in black to get behind the team.

I reckon you have all got this wrong.
Don’t forget HF are hardcore fans so they won’t stop coming.
Where else in the ground will they find a lock of seats?
So they will end up staying put.
Has anyone looked to see it those locks are available now?
Maybe they were trying for cheaper deal which would have been deserved but didn’t get it.
I sit near them in the AW and I can assure you the Arthur is way louder with way more people singing than the Homesdale
WE ARE TEH ARTHUR OVER ERE
I will be very surprised if the Ultras disperse. It’s their identity.

normally, the seats by the away fans are relatively slow to sell :-) get seats up the back there and they'd generate some noise...and friction

And the attention of the police. The away fans were moved to avoid a potential flashpoint and I doubt that Steve Parish wants a repeat of that issue. Also, they don't do "up the back"; they're a "look-at-us" outfit.

I see Shrewsbury have launched a safe standing zone modelled on Celtic’s similar area. Fairly sure when this notion was discussed in the past we were one of the clubs who expressed support for it. I wonder whether the potential lure of one of these might help keep the HF together until it could be implemented.

Any decision on safe standing, even if the government are minded to consider it, will be years away. There would be lengthy consultation and trials before any decision. Plus, unless a whole stand were made safe standing, which is unlikely, it will be at the back of stands and that's not what the HF want is it?

Also, they've lost their chance to be kept "together", as when they decided not to renew their season tickets, the club offered their seats to other supporters.

I totally agree I actually think it will happen but first trials are about 2 years away. These trials will be for about 5 years as any shorter and no real data will be obtained. I think if CPFC were to do a trial it would be an entire block and done in consultation with current season ticket holders some whom would want to be moved and some from other blocks moved in. I also suspect that one of stipulations from licensing authority will be zero tolerance of prolonged standing in other areas. However The time to introduce safe standing on a larger scale is when a stand is rebuilt or replaced because ideally you want pitch of slope increased

This is a shame. A lot of opinion purported as fact on here, but that corner does an awful lot for Palace. Gets most of the songs started, ensures the atmosphere is huge when conditions are right, keeps the songs going.

It is part of our identity that we make such a lot of noise at home, and it is the envy of other clubs and widely reported as being hard for opposing teams and refreshing for reporters that visit occasionally.

Hard to say how many points it was worth to us but certainly a few, and I think it even nudges the balance when players are deciding to join us or not.

One stadiums became all-seater, pre-HF Selhurst was a morgue at times, exactly the same as every other bland anodyne club. The HF changed that.

Now, if, IF they have made ridiculous demands then huffed off when they weren't met they have badly let everyone down. Once you create something that others rely on then you have a responsibility to it and to them, like it or not.

However I wonder where the truth lies here; it's usually somewhere between extreme views that are reported. Everyone else can, of course, take up the mantle but that hasn't happened with the HF there so highly unlikely it will without them: we can be as fickle as any other fans.

I hope this can be resolved some way as we will struggle without the atmosphere and whether you liked them or didn't (and let's be fair, some of their things are a bit marmite) there is no denying that the drum, the displays, the songs made Palace home games much MUCH more of a spectacle and enjoyable to be at.

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue
Yours sincerely
Mile Jedinak

I think his is a very sensible, balanced point of view,
