I remember losing to Liverpool 9-0 and still kept singing so even if the HF are not about I think there will still be a great atmosphere even when we are losing imo

I was there with a mate for that also but it was a bit of gallows humour going on and the revenge later that season was extremely sweet.
It’s much easier to create an atmosphere at an away game but at home I would think we have left it to the HF to drive the atmosphere and they have done a good job on it so with the sudden removal of the HF it could take a while to evolve again.

I wasn't there, but i read that after full time, the police let the Liverpool fans out first, and Palace were held back, when most of the Liverpool fans had gone, the palace fans started singing "Its all gone quite over-there.
Hope its true.

True. When 8-0 down we kept singing “we’re gonna score in a minute” got a pen and Geoff Thomas missed. Happy days, especially at Villa Park later that season.

Contrast losing 10-0 to Liverpool or 4-1 Fulham to losing 4-0 to Sunderland in 2017. You guys talking about the Liverpool game sound like the real deal and I'm sure you remained if you were there, but the stadium emptied out after half time. Only the HF remained in numbers, it was practically empty around me in the Arthur..

I've got to say that's pretty damning but I hope expectations have been tempered well enough that that wouldn't happen again, we aren't owed anything and I hope the fans understand that and get behind the team regardless. (FWIW I think we do have a great chance tomorrow)
