I'm pretty sure he's on the Matteo goals-per-minute gold list folks.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

By far the best striker we’re linked with out of him, Ayew and Ings.

Klopp is very particular with his forward players and doesn’t really play with traditional strikers, otherwise I think he’d almost certainly have a future at the club.

Still, is versatile enough to suit our system. Origi and Wilf up Top could be scary.

Not sure we can afford him, but maybe a loan with an option to buy? It's time for him to go on loan in the Prem too. Either Origi or Welbeck on loan and I'm happy.

If we can get an option in the arrangement, definitely worth a shout. Although I think selling clubs are often reluctant to include them (understandably).

However, given the fact he’s the type of player who will almost certainly never fit into Klopps style of play, it’s definitely not beyond the realms of possibility.

At the age of 23 and with reports stating that Origi is only on £28k per week this seems like potentially very good business if we can get it over the over the line.

He’s not what I imagined we needed, but he does fit the Palace profile. He’s similar to what we’ve already got and I thought we were after a Fox in the Box but I would be happy either way.

Good player for a 23 year old. Has 25 goals and assists in the last 2 years in about 4500 minutes. 1 in less than 200 minutes. And played some 1200 minutes of these as a winger. At just 23, I expect his performances to improve the next 2 years, up until 25. Will run a lot too at his age, which is something Palace really needs up front with Benteke lacking.

His right value I'd say is around 10 milion and a good deal would be at 7m. But 16.5 million just shows how inflated the English market is. And in his last 12 months of contract!! And it's not just Palace offering, also Champions League playing side this year Valencia looked set to offer over 20 for him last week! The right thing to do would be to stay away from playersfrom the Premier League or the Championship at these prices. But I guess it's impossible for English clubs themselves.

As comparison, a player very similar to Origi, Casimir Ninga, just 2 years older at 25, has 24 goals and assists in 4100 minutes in a top level league, the French one, where it's not easy at all to score (they're known for few goals and players who come to the PL do very wel, take unknown Steve Mounie who Huddersfield bought last year). And Ninga is exactly the same type of fast player, having also played as winger.

And he just switched sides this summer in Ligue 1, but his price was just 1.8 million. Just shows how hugely more a player costs only if he plays in England.

Mariusz Stepinski from Chievo, 23 year old striker, exactly the same age as Origi, scored and assisted 20 in 2500 minutes at top level in Serie A and Ligue 1 in the last 2 seasons, an incredible 1 goal or assist every 125 minutes! And 34 in 5300 minutes in Poland before that, by the age of 21. And Chievo just paid 2.2 million for him this summer as he was on loan from Nantes. Even so, they'd still probably sell for an offer around 4 million. Again, a great disparity between the prices in England and the rest of Europe.

I'm just a fan and I shouldn't care about what the Palace board does with the money. If Origi comes in it's going to be good for the performance of the team so why else should I xare, right?. But financially, I have to say what I think: 16 million is a lot of money, an expenditure inflated just cause he's from the PL, even though it could easily be recouped. That's the good thing. You couldstill sell Origi for at least 15 million to another English team. Just as long as he doesn't do a "Benteke". But I have strong confidence that if he gets Benteke's playing time of 3000 minutes per season, he'll provide a lot more. Especially in the years to come as he enters his mature years.

Matteo, surely the fact that he is proven in the EPL is precisely why his value is higher and is a safer option.

Lack of EPL experience was your reason for not recommending Dabbur:
“Dabbur is an interesting player, but not at the top of my list because you can't know if he'd adapt in England.“

You now seem to have turned a 180 and ruled out a player who has shown he can adapt in England in favour of a list of unknowns with no EPL experience.

Really informative post thanks Matteo. What Origi has over these players is experience of the PL, but paying an extra £10m PL premium for this is ridiculous- but that’s the market Palace are in and have to deal with. As a fan, I just hope a decent striker turns up at Sainsbury’s by 5pm whether that’s Ayew, Origi or whoever!

Medical today with no further business apart from outgoings apparently according to Guardian.

Decent back up I think.

Was this supposed to be posted on the Ayew thread?

Yes sorry goofed on thread. Ayew not Origi.

I’d have liked Origi but not in our price bracket.
