Craig is too old....but I agree, he has been brilliant.

Travis is too short.....I know what you mean though, he has that other worldly presence.

Exactly...

But I csn't really think of anyone else I could see in the role. I just hope they get it right.

In regards to Idris, I can't see him doing it.

What about Tom Hiddleston or Tom Hardy?

They have to be up there with Elba.....are they in their thirties? We need a younger Bond.

I wonder who actually makes this choice. They made a good one with Craig....who was a bit left field at the time.

Aidan Turner has to be close as well.

Out of the available, I'd go Tom Hardy. He has the acting flexibility to play a more complex, ruthless character.

Hiddlestone is not rugged enough.
Roger Moore got away with it because he was Roger Moore and there will only ever be one.

I much prefer characters to retain their original characteristics particularly when they are major.

I don't want Batman, Superman, James Bond or any other heroic figure to become Black anymore that Black audiences want the Black Panther, Luther or Shaft to turn White. Hell, I don't want them to be White either. They are fine as they are.

It's not complicated.

I generally agree, just pointing out that it's nothing new or that hasn't been done.

I couldn't care less about the nationality of the actors so long as they can portray the character well and pull off the accent.

Personally I don't think Idris Elba would actually make a good Bond anyway. And if they do it just because he's black rather than them thinking he is the best choice, that'll be the end of it before they know it.

He's 40 and most likely tied up with the Venom character for a while as Sony are betting all their chips on Spiderman films.

Lazenby's movie had the best title music though:

OHMS is quite good but I never liked Telly Savalas in it. The role didn't suit him and I got the feeling that he was only cast because he was bald.
Lazenby suffered from being too far up his own arse, or so it is suggested.

Money will dictate casting. A Black Bond might be popular in some countries but the USA and Britain make up a big chunk of the market and such a move would be very poorly received if I'm any judge.

I'm sorry but Bond has to be British and White.
If we need a Black spy them make a new one.
I'm sure Idris, Denzel or somebody would jump at the chance.
Does anyone fancy a White Shaft?

Agreed. Recasting gender or ethnicity is laziness and playing lip-service. Wesley Snipes was great in Passenger 57 "always bet on black". The luvvies proclaim it is an achievement, it's not, far better to start with an original character rather than crowbar a much loved character into your agenda aliening the fans. A James Bond that is black, gay and doesn't drink is not James Bond.

I actually don't care and Idris is a good actor but if you push the boundaries too much you lose what the fans love about a character.
