I think this is good team management by Roy. If I was part of the team that finished so strongly at the end of last season I would not be happy to be dropped before a ball has been kicked. Roy has sent a message to the team keep performing and you keep your place. It's also a reminder to the new boys not to expect to walk into the team. COYP

The problem is that they didn't really have much quality already, so had to stick the new boys straight in. And the one survivor from last season in that defence, Christie, was of course second-choice behind Fredericks.

A shame Meyer and Ayew aren’t ready to be on the bench because the bench is weak and very defensive due to lack of options until others are available. 1 keeper and 4 more defensively minded players and then kouyate who’s obviously more defensive And Sørloth.
