i can only comment on the CCTV footage I saw of a man punching fck out of someone who was largely defenceless.

Stevie Gerrard's lawyer must have been representing the accused.

re spot on, the CPS are idiots.

Twice in my life as a younger man I appeared in Crown Court avoiding bird each time.

The CPS basically employ all the guys who can't make it in private practice whilst I was paying my guys £400 an hour to run rings round them.

Sad but true, you buy justice.

No you don't. You buy an interpretation of law

I have to say I was a bit surprised that he got away with it completely based on what I've read, was expecting a let off with some kind of community service. Not sure I'd subscribe to the classic 'he's a public figure therefore gets preferential treatment' line.

He might well have had the best legal team money can buy, and there may have also been some gaps in the evidence on both sides which made it harder to pass a guilty verdict, but that doesn't equate to conspiracy.

i don't think the CPS messed up. There's something that doesn't sit right with me when CCTV footage shows a guy smashing someone's eye socket, when the victim is not in a position to defend themselves.

It is the equivalent Gerrard defence of "I thought I was going to be attacked, so got my punches in first"

just very confused at the outcome

Interesting to compare with response made to Danny Cipriani incident this week: [Link]

Can't help but think that Cipriani has got off lightly.

I think Ben Stokes could start with an apology.
