They would have to staff there stalls and they mostly know how to serve people quickly, efficiently and provide good service.

Would this even be attractive to those businesses?

In high streets and markets they can be there every week, set up all day and have a continuous stream of customers over a long period of time. How busy is the space around Selhurst on a Saturday at 2.15pm and then again at 3.05pm? How many people actually buy food before the game instead of just going straight up into the stand?

Quote Also in all the bar areas you need appointed staff to just continually pour drinks out and take the tops off bottles, always having a supply of poured drinks ready when you are busy. Whilst having other staff only serving customers by picking up those poured drinks and already opened bottles.

I've never really had to wait that long after the game to get served so that's not too bad. I'm also normally one of the last to get in the queue from the very back of the upper tier. Apart from a rush just before and at half time those extra staff members are just more people sitting around doing nothing.

Could the catering and bar service be better? Yeah, but we're talking about tiny windows of time every couple of weeks. If you want to make sure you get served quickly, arrive at the ground a bit earlier or send someone to the bar before half time.

A football game is also very different scenario to a rugby/cricket game before people mention that. The fact people are allowed to drink in the stands at those events means there is a steady stream of people going to the bar, and also then the nearby food stands. Those sports also generally have more 'downtime' to allow for such breaks.

I’m sure most of you like me grew up local and have moved out of the cpfc area in my case the iow ..!

There’s v little near the ground now ..... unless ur an unlucky fried chicken fan so a good bit of artisan pop up style food would be soooo welcome !

( btw yes I know there’s a new Costa )

And why oh why no beer pumps outside the Holmesdale ala Fulham n other sporting venues

Or just select n pay decent pay staff properly maybe just train up those poor very few behind the bar to look a little like they are not on ‘community service’ or really wanna be there ???

Coyp R.i.p dear Staffie

It works well at Fulham as well (unless it's changed since I last went).

I have not availed of the catering facilities at the aforementioned locations but there does appear to be a groundswell of negativity towards the product and service.

I recall bygone days when the only facilities available to 'Yours truly' was that small hut at the top of the Holmesdale and the peanut lady Mrs Minchella who was always stood on the Holmesdale terrace.Perhaps there were others but the years have dimmed my memory !

Chris123.

Lovely link - brings back some memories !

Some on here will remember the peanut lady, selling them in small white paper bags.Used to have a lot of shells left on the Holmesdale terrace ! I frequently gravitated towards her and purchased a bag.

I was more Whitehorse, but you could walk around the ground in those days - I recall an ice cream seller too, but can't remember the name.

Very appropriate name - indulging in 'Mr Whippy' ice cream whilst standing on an open terrace with wind whipping up everywhere ! I don't recall any ice cream seller in the ground at all - surely he wouldn't have done much trade in the midst of winter !

Those are completely different to a Premier League football game though.
