My partner works for a factoring company, and one of her clients is the company doing the design for the interior of the new stand. she was told that there is going to be a Nando's in there!

There has of course been a great deal of criticism apropos the catering at Selhurst Park.

I don't know if sandwiches are sold but I cannot help thinking that given the opprobrium, they would probably win top prize in the British Curling Championship !

There’s v little near the ground now ..... unless ur an unlucky fried chicken fan so a good bit of artisan pop up style food would be soooo welcome !

( btw yes I know there’s a new Costa )

And why oh why no beer pumps outside the Holmesdale ala Fulham n other sporting venues

Or just select n pay decent pay staff properly maybe just train up those poor very few behind the bar to look a little like they are not on ‘community service’ or really wanna be there ???

Coyp R.i.p dear Staffie

Good location to move too! I have done the same! I don't know how many Palace fans there are on the Island.

I am under the impression that the IOW is 'Pompey' territory.

Not that difficult to get a ferry to Portsmouth Harbour then travel on to Fratton.

Apart from a rush just before and at half time those extra staff members are just more people sitting around doing nothing.

Could the catering and bar service be better? Yeah, but we're talking about tiny windows of time every couple of weeks. If you want to make sure you get served quickly, arrive at the ground a bit earlier or send someone to the bar before half time.

A football game is also very different scenario to a rugby/cricket game before people mention that. The fact people are allowed to drink in the stands at those events means there is a steady stream of people going to the bar, and also then the nearby food stands. Those sports also generally have more 'downtime' to allow for such breaks.

I think you are missing the point. If you offered a better choice of food, and a better bar service before, during half time and after the match then more supporters would arrive earlier and possibly stay later and avail themselves of the hospitality available.
Currently the bars and food outlets are really busy from around 2.15-2.30 onwards and some of the bars run out of some beers regularly. Which is why huge numbers of supporters prefer to drink and eat elsewhere before matches.
If you could find a way of attracting a steady trade from 12.30 onwards to ease travel congestion wouldn't that also be beneficial to all? Say first drink/pint a £1.50 to a season ticket holder before 12.30.

The other team is of course Southampton. Easy to get to as well. Getting to Selhurst is a bit of mission but will be there for the Newcastle game.

So financially, Palace don't need fans, or to sell food, or programmes on a matchday. They would probably save a lot in printing costs, stewarding and operating poor catering outlets.
There are plenty of pubs near the ground, who serve a quick pint.
There was also a master caterer who made his £millions in the 3 hours before KO on a matchday on Whitehorse Road, and then took early retirement in the Maldives.
Yes, Mr Ring-a-Ding, himself

It can't be that difficult to sell hot good food quickly.

The attached photo shows demand is there. And from the back of the queue to getting served, took about 2 minutes

Lap Hing was amazing for quick service. The wife took the order and dished it up, one daughter scribbled down numbers on a big sheet of chip wrapping paper and took the money, Mr Hing did the cooking, and various other kids ran around in the background getting stuff.

Ran like clockwork.

Hope he's having a fantastic retirement!

I am aware of constraints to catering in the stadium.

However, you should either do things well. or not at all.

Fans are getting hacked-off with it, and it doesn't contribute to the club in any meaningful way (financially)
