That story was all over the radio this morning.

Seems they were saying "there's no benefit in drinking alcohol and doctors should advise people to go t-total" from a nutritional point of view.

It came across as the type of review that assesses the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

The freedom to ignore whats good for you sometimes is what makes being human fun.

What if you’re physically fit but drinking quite a bit every week? By physically fit I mean 5-7 hours cycling each week sit into a few sessions and quite a few sessions on weights? I expect the liver still takes some. Then there’s also the possibility that the f you’re recovering a bit faster from being fitter, you think you’re not damaging yourself as much, okay to drink a fair bit sooner than you would otherwise etc etc. Something footballers 20 years ago did.

If you are at peak fitness so in every aspect you do burn through it its the same with food which is why these people can get away with having cheat meals.

but theirs different levels so just because someone cycles 5-7hr a week doesn't make them fit you need to factor in how they cycle 5-7hr a week may sound a lot but it really isn't.

Weight training is the same.

You then need to look at a persons lifestye to do with stress and other parts of the diet.

Damage is damage each person is different but because you are fitter lets say it doesn't stop damage it's just with some food/drink people who at peek condition can burn through it because of things like metabolism, gut bacteria all being far more efferent.

This is why what we eat/drink is so important and I though many years ago like lot of people it's fine balance diet exercise but now the science is showing that is wrong we need to go back to caveman eating this has big impact to do with health/illness linking modern living with high carb/sugar/protein to cancer/neuro disorder and the likes of diabetes.

If you are going to consume alcohol make it pure ones or if you have say 1 glass of dry wine a day thats it

I'm not a medical person but the one word in your post which I think will greatly increase anyone's susceptibility to illness. That being stress.
With or without bad habits of drinking or smoking or eating crap.
Not wholly but a catalyst to illness all the same.
Basically as Mr Brazil says
"It's not a rehearsal "

We are not talking about illness and stress comes in many forms every time you go for a run this causes stress even if you are athlete there is different degrees.

Mental stress and physical stress have a totally different affect on the person.
Physical is easier to deal with than mental.
It's normally visible if physical.
My point being that life ain't forever so it's only short and do things and live it.
Not covet it like you are a crown jewel as the end is coming to us all.
Not sure who said it but in life 2 things are certain
Death and taxes.
You will be remembered by two generations
Your kids and your kids kids
After that your the old got in the corner who pisses himself.
Laugh in life then laugh at death;the grim reaper is choosing today's players as we speak.

Hear hear.

Stress actually causes your body to flood with various chemicals e.g. adrenaline. If you are in an emergency situation such as a fire that is a good thing. On a daily basis it is actually harmful and many of us are stressed without realising it.

One of the things we do in yoga is learning breath control. Your breath tells your brain what to do. for many of us we breath shallow and rapid that is a danger signal "fight or flight". It takes 15 minutes of deep breathing to tell your brain / body it's OK to relax there is no danger. So yes stress has an actual and measurable impact on your health.

Cortisol is the stress hormone this effects weight loss in a big way it can even make you look like you have larger belly and how the body uses what you in take which is why I originally mentioned stress.

But some one went off subject and tried to go into other things I am guessing to debunk damage alcohol does.
