I’d much rather see Sakhos shenanigans than the old hoof it anywhere a la Damo (usually right back to the oppositions defenders so that they could come at us again and again).

Agreed, but there is a time and place for everything, and sometimes whacking the ball up-field can be the best option when you have several opposition players surrounding you.

I thought he was, for the most part, immense on Monday. Chest, head, feet - strong defensive passes and precise passing. One-on-one with (I think?) Salah or Mane in the 2nd half on a quick break, and he seemed to back-heel it out from under their feet.

Yes, he has these moments, and I get jitters with some of his passing, but he's a beast. If we're moaning about Sakho (how many consecutive games has that defensive partnersip won under?), then I'd hate to get started on more deserving targets in the squad...

All players make mistakes. The number of mistakes a player makes will, statistically, increase with the percentage of play he's involved in. Tiredness and desperation against three of the best forwards in the league will only increase their number. Mistakes made further up the field are forgiven more often because their repercussions are not always so final. For example, I don't see anyone commenting on Wilf's stray passes.

The chest back to Hennesey, about 3 yards out in a crowded box was simultaneously terrifying and the coolest thing he did all game.

He gave the penalty away and a couple of times passed straight to th opposition. That said his record playing alongside Tompkins is remarkable.

Firstly it wasn't a penalty. Secondly, he wasnt the only player who passed straight yo the opposition, wilf, milo and benteke did more times than him. He was immense Monday night and without him we would have been hammered.

I recall ,before Sakho joined us, having a conversation with someone and commenting that he didn't appear too comfortable in possession and wasn't a ball-playing central defender.

And presumably with your extensive knowledge of football you told him he was talking s***!!

Spot on. Highlight of the entire game for me. He might not be good for the blood pressure but it’s a price well worth paying!

There's so many angles to be confused by this.
With all respect:
Sakho or Bailly
Sakho or Dann
Sakho or Kelly
Do you want to give the ball back to a team like Liverpool with every clearance.
Do you know the Sakho/Tompkins games played together compared to losses record.
Are you crazy for not enjoying Sakho actually playing football in the hardest outfield position to do so.
How many goals has he actually caused by poor passing or a mistake
Why don't you just watch a crap Sunday league team.
Did you not enjoy Sorondo
Did you not enjoy Southgate
Did you not enjoy Moore

I'd rather Varane too but £100 million is just a little too much

If we were a top 6 team i would worry.... but we're not - he is fine for us and does more good than harm.

I think he’s great. The dearest goalkeeper in the world never hoofed the ball on Monday, why should our ball playing centre half.
You don’t move forward by standing still.
