The ref was very poor you could say Watford should of had another player sent off towards the end when Palace had a free kick one of their players who had been booked already refused to let palace take freekick I think he even kicked the ball away so it should of been another yellow.

if palace player had done this in the book straight away

That zaha booking was shocking. If that’s how soft the premier league has become im done with it. Too much money in the game and the refs are far too worried about protecting ‘assets’. And yet capoue gets away with murder. The decisions of referees are inconsistent but the standard of refereeing is consistently crap. No wonder we had no refs in the World Cup.

Zaha with his skill and ability must be more of an "asset" than any of our players ?

I think all this pre and post match analysis from different ex players specially on Sky Rednapp, Souness on sky’s Super Sunday and
Carragher, Neville on Monday night football, not forgetting Ref Watch also on Sky during the week go over and over incidents analysing from this angle and that angle, did he dive or not . Was that a sending of yes/no
This Ref watch on Sky after matches where Dermot Gallagher give his views on what he would have given doesn’t in my opinion doesn’t help player or referees . Players get a dive tag very easy this is how Zaha got his dive tag after the Watford game last season from these so call experts. Referees alike pick up on these issue. I do wonder if Watford’s Capoue would have been sent off had he been give a name like Zaha has.

We saw on Monday how Sala went down like a ton of brick with hardly any contact from Sakho. Referees have to be consistent and they are when it come to the top six clubs.

Mark Clattenburg was chosen but he forfeited his place when he departed for Saudi Arabia.

Mark was included in the list who were selected for preparation for the World Cup, and all those referees underwent a training programme.

At the time Clattenburg left for Saudi Arabia, there were actually no competitions left to train the referees, so there was no opportunity to replace him with another English referee.

So it was all about circumstances and timing rather than about the standard of our referees.

Even you must admit, Willo, that the standard of refereeing in the World Cup was far, far higher than the incompetence, guesswork, politicking and sheer unbridled bias that we see week in week out in the Premier League.

With the greatest of respect, I have made by views on the standard of refereeing in England patently clear and I have nothing to add.I'm not going to get drawn into any further debate on this matter.

I do agree with you. The only thing I can think about Capoue's challenge is that from the ref's angle he may have not seen the raking of the calf, only a trip. Where is VAR when you need it, thought Graham Souness was brilliant, he looked visibly upset at the assault. Wilf's booking was caused by the reaction of the Watford players (why did Palace players not react in the same way). Jaanmats challenge on PVA warranted a booking and his attempt to get Wilf sent off was disgraceful (thought the ref handled that well). Watford really are a scummy club, read their forum about Capoues tackle on Wilf.

Shows how bad the tackle was when Graeme Souness is upset by it as he had some shockers back in the day. There’s some on YouTube that are unbelievable.

Agree with everything you said, the ref was appalling.

The Salah decision last week was at least debatable but this was the most blatant red card you’ll see. It was as bad as Mane not getting a second yellow last year.

I do feel sorry for refs as the game is so quick and players have really gotten good at cheating. But that was an easy and obvious decision. Terrible refereeing.

Watford are a dirty and classless team. Shame because they looked
quite good in parts of the game.
