I was just about to post a very similar response, its looking like a LETS BLAME R.H.thread coz we lost an away game,no mention of the bad luck and ref decisions that went against us. its all roy's fault we have 3 similar strikers, one is off form, one injured still, and one very raw, we also have another option for a striker, but he is not fit yet.
Its as you said Braunstone, some "supporters" just can't wait to blame the club or management for a loss, they don't even think about the rubbish they are writing.

Don't be childish. Of course it wasn't RH fault we lost. But you can't blame fans for questioning why he doesn't use his subs when things aren't going well.

Before the match Roy said ayew, kouyate and Meyer all fit and ready to play a part, which makes even less sense to leave them out, Meyer excluded but that was too late to win the match. Look.what he did in the he short time he was on

Meyer did look good when he came on for a SHORT TIME. i believe it was a SHORT time coz he hasn't trained for months.
Ayew and Kouyate may or may not be fit, but it dosn't mean they are yet familiar with the way R.H. wants them to play. It took quite a time to get our team to play the way he wanted after he became manager

Agreed - it would be pretty boring if every post was "oh well - in Roy we trust". A forum is intended for discussion and debate, although all too often many posts come off as needlessly abrasive, a lot of the time, people are just bewildered and there's nothing wrong with expressing that.

I guess this is probably the main reason. Roy works out how we are going to beat the opposition works on it and sticks with it It also probably explains why Sorloth replaced Benteke as they play in a similar way whereas Ayew would probably have meant a change in style which in Roy’s opinion would not win us the game. It could so easily been very different had all our chances been put away.
He is our Manager and will stand or fall by his decisions which are certainly based on intimate knowledge of our players ability and of the opposition.

Was listening to Danny Murphy on talksport earlier, he said that our subs should have been made quicker. Then he said that Roy picks his 11 and trains with them all week and always gives them a long time in a game as he believes that’s the best 11 to win that game. Says he’s always been like it and will never change.

But Danny Murphy is a Jockey on a crap radio station, R.H. is a manager of Premiership club with years and years of success behind him, i know who i would rather put my trust in.

Murphy wasn’t slagging Roy off, he loves him thinks he’s a great manager , was just explaining how he manages.

Roy was his manager for 3 years or so at Fulham so he probably knows a thing about his tactics.

I know he was, but it was still a criticism of Roys (subs) tactics.
I do like D.M. actually.

I know what you're saying but Joel puts that one away we all say Roy was spot on. Fine margins and all that.

yours and the other poster names you mention are really over the top reactions to what is obviously a common observation made by a lot of fans, pundits and journalists - i.e. that we needed to make changes to influence the game using the players that Roy had declared ready and fit before the match. This is not blame or any sort of attack on the manager - just a bleeding obvious conclusion to what was playing out on the pitch and we've all watched enough matches to see it.

If the conclusion is indeed as obvious as so many seem to think, then why didn't Hodgson do it?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I sometimes feel these kind of managers give the players on the pitch a chance to keep their place or completely lose it so they have no complaints, grumblings or negative influence in the squad. In a shortish space of time you get the strongest 11 on the pitch selected from a few over 11 players and those unfavoured have very little to complain about, at the cost of a few short term points over a longer term benefit and harmony.

Just a theory, whether obvious or not, or so obvious it’s never mentioned.

well that's one that only him and perhaps a few people close to him can answer. Danny Murphy gave this thoughts about Roy having his 'winning 11' training together all week for the game ahead making him reluctant to change his formula during a game. Hodgson has said previously that whatever comes off the bench needs to be better than what is already on the pitch. I disagree with that last point to a degree as it's not always about who is best on paper but what is working and I'm of the opinion that if something isn't working then you change it. The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry, no matter how carefully a project is planned. At those times action is required IMO.

Don't get me wrong I'm very happy he's at Palace and his approach has more positive than negative outcomes, but perhaps this is why Roy is managing at our level club and not Liverpool/England level, the missing ability to have an effective plan B when things aren't going to plan A.
