Not sure why people are quick to blame Roy.

The team were playing well most of the game and he probably expected a reaction to the goal and not a flukey second goal from them.

I think the Benteke situation is reasonable. He was showing signs of improving and hitting the target and scoring in friendlies but I'm sure he will give the other two strikers a chance on Saturday.

He waited for some kind of competitiveness for 35 minutes in the first half with plenty of complaining of the display between Roy and Ray. They were both fully aware of how bad it was but let it continue for whatever reason. The rigidity last season was another frustration but in the bigger picture Roy delivers. I just think he’d be even better if he was more flexible or introduced these options.

why are people being over sensitive over fans saying he needs to use his subs better,

at the moment its just a observation, he does have a history regarding subs, doesn't mean we want him sacked,

the way some on here have acted is like we called for his head, couldn't be further from the truth, we questioned his way regarding subs being introduced in to a match, each manager has there way some fans would like earlier or different changes that's all it is, how many of the ones defending him have not watched in the past and gone why didn't he do that, if you haven't you don't know a lot about the game from watching,

so don't get to bent up on fans asking a simple observation about subs, we all still love him xx

Motd 'experts'? What is it they are actually experts at? It certainly isn't successful management of a football club. Not one of them has made a decent job of coaching/managing. Most of them haven't even had the courage to have a go!

I have known and/or had a beer with a few ex pro footballers over the years and they'll all tell you the same. Watching is nothing like playing and playing is nothing like coaching. In other words ex players a no better qualified in their opinion than anyone else when it comes to coaching.

Past players who hsve played at the top level and good pundits, entitled to give their opinion abd it seems to be the same opinion of a lot of fans on here.

And you evaded the question i asked. Did you not think it would have been better to bring subs on earlier?

I apologise as I did not realise that question was addressed to me specifically.
In answer, me personally, both yes and no. I thought the team we started (with the exception of Meyer) was the strongest we could put out to win the game therefore on that basis making changes for change sake makes no sense. But.... I did change my my mind half way through the second half and feel Meyer's creativity and trickery could have been used to unlock them and would have liked to have seen him come on earlier. Then again only Roy and his staff truly know how fit Meyer is and how much he can be pushed right now so again we come back to thepoint I made before about the manager and his staff being far better qualified to decide whats for the best.

well that's one that only him and perhaps a few people close to him can answer. Danny Murphy gave this thoughts about Roy having his 'winning 11' training together all week for the game ahead making him reluctant to change his formula during a game. Hodgson has said previously that whatever comes off the bench needs to be better than what is already on the pitch. I disagree with that last point to a degree as it's not always about who is best on paper but what is working and I'm of the opinion that if something isn't working then you change it. The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry, no matter how carefully a project is planned. At those times action is required IMO.

Don't get me wrong I'm very happy he's at Palace and his approach has more positive than negative outcomes, but perhaps this is why Roy is managing at our level club and not Liverpool/England level, the missing ability to have an effective plan B when things aren't going to plan A.

That is a fair point. However if you do bring on a new sub which is unlike his replacement then other players may have to shift formation as well and have to be comfortable doing this. Not sure if Roy likes this and whether we actually have the players to do this ? Also invariably subs who do make an impact don't stay to long as subs, unless at the bigger clubs such as Giroud, the latter day David Fairclough. More are used in case of injury.

The problem is that his idea of hitting the target is just placing it on goal - where the keeper has a good chance to save

Last week a downward header from the Townsend(?) cross would have been a sure goal. Last year his goal against Leicester should really have been saved and the penalty (the one he scored) was nowhere near the side of goal or struck with power

How and why Wickham got injured again is concerning. If fit, he would now clearly be our Number 1 striker

In fairness, these are all premier league footballers playing in one of, if not the, toughest league in the world. You would think that in view of this they have the abilty to adapt to a plan B, or come to think of it a plan C,D,E or F if necessary. So throwing a different type of player onto the pitch and adapting your play to pose the opposition a different threat should be second nature to these guys, or am I giving them too much credit?
