...we'll have to try something seriously different to today. The 4-4-2 we lined up with today had a tortuous lack of pace and guile, exacerbated by the likes of Schlupp & Benteke being seriously off their game. I know Roy won't play the side listed below, but in Wilf's absence I genuinely think it's our best bet:

GK: Wayne
LB: PvA
CB: Sakho
CB: Tomkins (if fit)
RB: AWB
CM: Luka
CM: Macca/Kouyate
AM: Meyer
LW: Ayew
RW: Andros
ST: Sorloth

Thoughts?

Perhaps Macca rather than Luka on current form. Then the debate over whether Benteke or Sørloth is the least worst option.

That's going to be a hard choice

For me, Sorloth is a donkey ... Benteke is just useless. Where's Connor Wickham? I thought he was supposed to be fit enough to return by yesterday?

Hopefully Roy has realised that the Zaha tactic without Zaha is actually ridiculous. Also the not playing your most talented midfielder because Schlupp finally scored a goal is also not a good tactic. I've backed Roy from day one, but always reserve the right to be critical when I feel the situation warrants it, so I'm now exercising that right.
Foot shooting seems to be a Palace speciality.

Not hard at all. I've not seen anything to make me think Sorloth is the answer, but I also know every player needs a good run of games to adjust to a higher level and get comfortable. Benteke isn't scoring, so unless Wickham is fit we have to give this lad a chance and who knows, genuine competition has worked wonders for Wayne, it may spur on Benteke.

We should play without an all out striker. Lots of good teams do it. Sorloth and Benteke are not at the level required and we can’t keep on saying the same things every week.
Last season without Benteke we had a nicely balanced side with Wilf and Andros up front. We are much better with the ball with an extra midfielder, as Luca can then do what he’s good at and take the ball from the defence and pass it to the midfielders who can actually use it and push us up the pitch.
Luca is never going to be a playmaker but without that extra midfield player we end up too deep from the starting point and invite trouble like we did in the first half against Southampton.

I am warming to the no striker option with Wif and Andros up front but Roy will sort it out of this I am sure

I don't have your faith. A real manager would have benched Benteke when he took the ball off Luka for THAT penalty. I thought he had it sussed at the end of last season when Benteke was injured, we played some really good stuff with Wilf and Andros alternating up front

I'm certain Roy wouldn't do this, but I would go for...

Hennessey

AWB Tomkins/Kelly Sakho PvA

Luka

Townsend Kouyate Macca

Meyer

Ayew

Our strength should be our midfield, but we have what look like two of our best players on the bench. Kouyate looks like the box-to-box player we've been missing, while Meyer looks like the creative midfielder we've been missing. A positive that could be taken from the Saints game is that Roy has shown in the past he will make changes when results do not go our way. If Roy insists on maintaining a 442, then I would just get Andros to play the Wilf role and bring Meyer in on the right, but with the same players as above.

I think Bentenke should be benched now and be made to force his way back in by performances off the bench. Now that we have three fit strikers it can't be very good for their morale to be on the bench watching Tekkers miss chance after chance. I have supported him all the way, but he is losing us points.

I actually tend to agree, in the absence of a top quality striker at any rate.

If Wilf isn't fit, I guess we could start with Ayew & Townsend up top with Macca & Meyer on the flanks in a 4-4-2? If he is fit, I'd honestly like to see us play with Wilf & Ayew up top together.

A good selection.
I suspect Zaha will be back in which case he would replace Ayew. I would go for Kouyate as well as Macca, and stick Andros on the bench.
