Presumaby if they'd had it for our game there Capoue would've been for the high jump.

I’m not sure that’s true though. If the ref chose to “brandish” the yellow anyway, then VAR wouldn’t have a role, would it? Or would it? I confess I’ve slready forgotten the nuances of VAR since the World Cup ended.

I do remember that cards are always “brandished”, however, just as favourites always “crash out” of competitions etc etc

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

No, no, no...VAR would have ruled that he was acting completely out of character, as he just isn't that sort of player

VAR will be used for red card dilemma's so would have had a role if the video ref would have deemed it a red card offense.

My understanding is that they will be testing it but not actually speaking to the officials, to see if they can cope with multiple matches

Most are for it tbh - a few doubts but generally see VAR a good thing if used correctly .

Really? Even though you'd have been down to 10 very early on when you played Palace?

Well, I think we would definitely have had one more penalty and one less booking for diving last season

Some thought it was an acceptable challenge as it was Zaha! I kid you not.

If the VAR judges that there is the potential for a clear and obvious error to have been made the VAR can notify the referee.

The referee then has three options: they can immediately overturn the call based on the VAR's advice, review the incident themselves on a monitor on the touchline or stick with their initial decision.

My understand is therefore that if a referee issues a Yellow,he can overturn this and issue a Red after intervention by VAR as described above.
