I can understand Zaha’s frustration. He’s been unfairly labelled a diver by the media and this unfair tag has made him feel victimised. This has made him winge a lot which only encourages the media/fans to target him more. I think this has led to further unfair treatment from refs as his reputation goes before him as a cheat. He never seems to get the benefit of doubt from refs which has encouraged players to chance there arm at fouling him and hope to get away with it. The more this has happened the worse it seems to get. He only wants to treated fairly like any other player

I don't think Wilf does himself any favours. If he had any sense, he would get on with his game.
It's obvious that teams will target Wilf because he is our key player and referees will know this. They can only give what they see on the day but Wilf has to play clever and try and make sure that refs notice the fouls.
People laugh at Neymar, but it is probably the years of being kicked that makes him exaggerate every tackle.

Wait, wait, hang on a second - somebody actually listened to something Alan Shearer said?

I would argue that the ref in the Watford game clearly saw what Capoue did and only gave a yellow. It is things like that which I imagine make Wilf really angry, and rightly so. He is targeted and refs should understand that.

If that had been on Hazard or another player for a top 6 side do you honestly doubt it wouldn't have been a red?

Correct Johnoo,

The tackle at Huddersfield would have been a red also had it been done on Hazard .

Would VAR help ? Not sure as I am sure it is was stated that VAR dor red cards would only be used for cases of mistaken identity. If the Ref chooses to only book the player what can be done ?

Yellow cards for the Capoue tackle and the tackle by the Huddersfield thug on Saturday just give the thugs the green light to put a career threatening tackle in on Wilf every game and not get sent off. Get booked ? no problem pass the fouling onto a team mate that has not been booked.

It was a poor decision but the ref has a second to make a call. I think big clubs get the breaks for sure but Wilf will not get better treatment by criticising officials.

I think WZ made a completely justified complaint. I don't think he is moaning about being targeted as our key player. He must expect that, and the heavy tackles that go with it. His complaint was about the deliberate attempts to injure him and take him out, not only of the current game, but many. Perhaps all season! These come from teams at our level who know that without him their own prospects of survival increase. It's these cynical attacks, and the response of the referees, that rightly upset him. The managers involved need to be called out too, because they must be orchestrating the attacks.

It's not reasonable to compare WZ with players in the top 6 clubs, when injuring one of them won't have the same impact on the lower clubs as injuring WZ. This is cynical and it needs to be recognised and given proper publicity.

The TV pundits are talking rubbish and the club need to find a way of addressing the issue with both the league and the referees.

Oh good so if I bump into Gary Lineker can I compliment his performance on MOTM by punching him on the nose?

Wilf would benefit hugely from watching Messi and the way he conducts himself on the pitch. If he controls his temper he destroys opponents. That goal he scored Saturday was as good as any Messi, Ronaldo solo effort, in fact I would go as far as to say it was sublime and that is how you show the opposition who is boss.

Before we all board the bus of believing there's a secret anti-Wilf agenda, can I just recommend looking up YouTube fouls on Messi. It's extraordinary some of the treatment he takes. I imagine it's similar for Ronaldo and Hazard.

The debate isn't really about Wilf, it's about the protection of skilful -- and brave -- footballers who keep trying to take opponents on. Of which Wilf is a prime example.

That said, I like the idea that refs and opposing players will have it in their minds that this is a "thing". It might make some opponents wary of the dirtiest most dangerous stuff, and refs wary of bottling important decisions.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.
