It's just been very meh, nothing to get excited about. Last season's football not seen yet, the man to replace Cabaye still not starting, dead atmosphere, no striker that looks like they have 10-15 goals in them. Long way to go but I'm pretty indifferent to things so far

thank god for Wilf...

Was hard to see us lose to a bad Southampton, almost as bad against an energetic and determined Watford, even if they have no real talent,
Certainly would could have had 8 more points than we do have currently, but we dont, so there you go.

Our next 2 also very winnable, i should have we get at least 4 points from them given who the 5 games after that are. But knowing palace, we will get 1 point from the next 2, and 8 points from the 5 after that. Its how we roll.

I was one of those who wanted Roy to try 4-3-3 instead of the narrow 4-4-2 which Roy favours.
Having seen the last couple of games the players look less comfortable with 4-4-3.
Wilf played in a very restricted position on the left and had to spend more time defending.
He is more effective when he has a free attacking role where ho can drift left on occasions.
The balance with three in midfield doesn’t look right and I think Roy is still trying to find the best formation while looking at the new players.
With 4-3-3 if Zaha is off form or tightly marked, Townsend and Ayew/Sorloth as the other forwards will not pose problems for the majority of defences.
At the end of last season we looked effective both defending and attacking as a unit but we don’t have the same players at our disposal and none of the new signings can play the RLC role.
I think it will take more time for Roy to work out a new effective formation with the new signings.

The ref will be less comfortable with 4-3-3 but it would solve a lot of our problems, unless we play with no keeper or a rush keeper. Could be interesting Pardew type summer holiday scores. 19-18.

7 points from 6 games will do me just fine, keep that up over the season and we will stay up

happy days

Agreed.

To answer the OP question I am not surprised it's Palace! nothing surprises me that's why I love the club. Supporting this great club of ours is never boring.

One more point

At present after 6 games we are 11th, attained 7 pts and are 5 pts clear of the drop zone.

Last season after 6 games we of course we were rock bottom on 0 pts and 4 pts from safety. After last season's diabolocal start to the season, I feel supporters will look at our present start and be reasonably content and perhaps even more content than that.

We will get better but if Zaha isn’t available then I’m worried.

Roy is frustrating over one or a few games but over 38 he delivers and that’s what matters at our size in this division.

We frustratingly seem to like an albatross hanging around our necks during the first quarter of a season. Last year we set all sorts of negative records and this year we haven't scored at home yet.

That gets into players minds massively and silly things like Sakho missing from 3 yards creep in and the media make it a big issue.

Losing to Liverpool and Southampton is fine in the grand scheme of things but it does annoy me we can't even pull a goal back. It just means the next match you have the inevitable moaners talking about "Don't see the point of paying for a season ticket we never score at home" etc. At least kill that vibe dead ASAP.

From the games we've had, I would have expected about 6 more points than we have. OK, we've lost RLC and YC from the team at the end of last season, but CK and MM should have been pretty much like-for-like replacements. What I don't get is why we've switched from having AT and WZ up front which worked so well at the end of last season. Benteke was never likely to come good again, Sorloth looks out of his depth and very slow, and Ayew is another Fraser Campbell - works hard but never going to do much. The poor decisions of the last couple of transfer windows re getting in a striker are having a bad affect.

Key issues for me..the forward momentum and engine of RLC and the range of passing/football brain of Cabaye.

Add to that we don't seem as dangerous at set pieces along with not taking our chances with sitters.

As someone else mentioned if ward and mamadou had both scored towards the end of those games we'd likely have six more points.

I think we will improve.
