I wouldn't necessarily want Deeny punished as throwing a light on these sort of things should be encouraged.

However, what I can't make out is why he blurted it out in the media in the first place. It was either in the spirit of honesty and respect for the 'beautiful game' or, alternatively, he felt proud about how they had 'managed' Wilf and felt it was something to brag about.

Or, he's just thick a sh1t and hadn't thought it through at all.

I'd say your latter two points are most likely correct.

If anybody watched Final Score on the Red Button y/day did you notice how Jason Mohommed talked over & went completly off topic when Dion Dublin & Leon Osman started to talk about it, not once, but twice.

Guess the BBC didnt want to 'encourage' disscsion shall we say.

My love for palace and Wilf makes me fume at this but, let's be straight here, every club does this sort of thing from the top, right down to Sunday league.

My issue is that I want more of our players to give it back. Could you imagine what would have happened if we had an Andy Gray, a Clint Hill, a Shaun Derry etc. My personal favourite who I was always gutted ended up becoming a Millwall favourite was Kevin Muscat. The way he shut that gobs***e, Lee Bowyer, up in a cup game at selhurst was glorious. Had we players like that on the pitch who also possess premier league ability, the likes of Watford would think twice before dishing out dirty stuff.

I actually think we've become a bit too nice. We say Luka will 'fcukin murder ya' but compared to a Mile, or a Damo or a Paddy, it's more of a tickle.

You’ve stirred a happy memory there. Bowyer was a classic example of a player who dishes it out but can’t take it back. I recall him crying to the referee on the occasion you are referring to.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Not sure why Deeney is being slated for this. We know it happens, we have all seen it and called it out, all Deeney has done is be too stupid to deny it.

I imagine all those Watford fans who have been saying it is just Wilf diving and whinging just be feeling a bit sheepish

I’ve always liked Troy deeney and would have loved him at palace. Fair play for his honesty, I would like us to be a bit more like Watford , we seem to be too nice , I would like us to be a bit more nasty and get in teams faces. All within the rules of the game of course.

Think there is quite a bit of over reaction to this. As others have said fair play to him for being honest... C'mon people... anyone who has played football (especially at a decent level. I reached non league myself.. not amazing but not to bad) knows that the type of thing he mentions happens all the time... That's football.

I go with the people praising his honesty.

I don't support those that would punish this guy for being honest. In fact we need more of this.

We need discussion not punishment.

This makes the ref at Watford look like a complete pillock.
Which he obviously is. Not to send that bloke off for that first cynical foul on Wilf was an outrage.p
The fa needs to harden up fast on this. What’s the point of having rules if they are so blatantly abused. Most football authorities have no teeth and they all need to move with the PC times and clampdown hard on this. Very hard.
I watched the Chelsea Liverpool match and Hazard like Wilf was floored the whole time yet nothing happened. The scousers should have got a couple of reds in that game just like there should be at least one red given every time Wilf plays.
The talent in our game is being upended the whole time. Ian Wright ended up with a broken leg because the refs are so weak.
If this isn’t exposed and sorted now (which I’m sure it won’t be) then it will continue to kill the game (which it will)

Don't think deeney has done anything wrong with his comments. We all knew this happened. If anything he has opened dialogue about it which is only a good thing. Others will now take notice. He seemed complimentary about Zaha. Not that I agreed with watfords tactics, was a disgrace.

Have a feeling Adam smith will be looking to rile wilf up tonight
