Outside of religious insanity and criminality involving the exploitation of women, I see no reason why women need any special treatment in the 21st century. They are doing just fine.

they are doing just fine !!

I trust the day will be celebrated with exhibitions of cooking, ironing and hoovering - in fact, all the things God put them on the earth for.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

It's international women's day, so refers to no single nation but all nations.
The producers of corrie decided they were going to do an episode to mark this for women globally, because if you look at pefwins post there are still places where women don't have a voice and I doubt the people that run these country's are in any rush to change that anytime soon.

I'm saying what has that got to do with an all woman cast on coronation street in modern libral Britain.

You bought up POTUS, nothing to do with Britain either?

I think the 2 examples you give probably add strength to the argument that women's rights globally aren't what they should be.

So to mark international woman's day men can play no part?

Yes we can and I'm sure lots will.
The producers came up with an idea to draw attention to it. If men were in it then it would of just been another corrie. It's got people talking, and the facts that Pefwin shared as examples of some of the things that still occur around the world so anyone that reads that will now be aware of,which surely isn't a bad thing.

Jackson Katz who's an American author asked men and women what they do to avoid being sexually assaulted.
These are the answers he got

This kind of stupid crap really grinds my gears. It feeds into this 'tonic masculinity' nonsense that is being used to damage young male minds.

Here's the reality. Most men are biologically programmed to desire women. Some will chase them more than others...again mostly biological. From that programming a small percent will be malignant.

This is nature and this will never change. Men and women are biologically different and always will be. In most instances they complement each other and that's how nature intended it.....otherwise the species wouldn't continue.

The same genetic imperative that pushes men to advance humanity is the same imperative that wrecks it.

You're arguing with yourself. You've pinpointed a problem in the world, and when people on an "international day" want to do something to highlight this, however stupid and pointless you think it is, you ask what's it got to do with us.its an"international day" global inter nations. Am I making sense or have I completely lost it?
