I was quite happy with that analogy. Beats the one about buying hotdogs with mustard or whatever it was but hey-ho.

The Grimsby fans were terrific they totally drowned out our supporters with their singing. The hf tried their best but were outnumbered and couldn't compete. They missed out on a chance to get the stadium rocking, should have joined in with Grimsby singing we're the black and white army just substituting red and blue for black and white.

I am 62 years old and have supported Palace since 1961. I sat in Block E yesterday (mainly due to my son wanting to), we have season tickets in Block J. I met several of the HF and have to say I was impressed with their views and reasoning. I honestly believe they have the club at heart.
Don't get me wrong they have a few idiots (but who doesn't)but the enthusiasm they showed was top notch.
My one criticism would be they should concentrate on singing songs that everyone knows and would join in "red and blue army", pride of South London" etc.
With regard to it being Grimsby's cup final... of course it was, it is not derogatory to say that, I suspect many of their team/fans would agree.
I would like to think that the petty squabbling now ends and we concentrate on supporting the team.

I am E block Row 19

And I am staying put. It was fun yesterday, if you get involved it's a really great experience that adds to the game

Sadly not everyone in E block can join in (many are infirm or have youngsters with them for example and others just don't want to) but also the club has made it very hard to do so.

You shouldn't assume everyonw in Block E feels like a victim.

I was in among the 'Ultras' yesterday in the Holmesdale, they were the only tickets left.
Some observations:
1) I makes me feel like Victor Meldrew to say it, but somebody will end up breaking their neck from crowdsurfing in the stadium.
2) The seats were getting broken from fans bouncing up and down on them. There were two broken seats in the row in front of me - shouldn't we draw the line at wrecking the stadium?
3) I couldn't see the game for some of the time, as there was a huge lad standing on the blue plastic seat and bouncing up and down on it.
4) I had a chuckle at one of the chants that was new to me:'Roy Hodgson's Red and Blue Army/ Bring your vodka and your Charlie.'
