I was about to ask the same question. I haven't seen anywhere the AWB has said he wants to leave.

You know what they say about the transfer windows and the press . Believe half of what you see and none of what you read , and even then if i saw AWB in a manure shirt id have my doubts .

oh yeah ,fcuk off brighton.

I'm Not really sure That's the point of this thread anymore!
Whether he wants to go is neither here nor there, it's whether it would be better to sell him for mega-wads the sake of the team. (i.e. to sell a RB and buy a CM and CF and make the team stronger overall).

Hopefully this will happen and it not all go into the alleged shortfalls in the accounts

You blindly believe media nonsense.

Southampton have regularly sold all their best players and that has taken them from high mid-table to barely avoiding relegation for the last two seasons. You like that model?

Selling your best talent will eventually see any team in the Championship where the potential loss of income will make our transfer profits look like peanuts.

I said "theoretically pissed off" quite intentionally. Do you even read?!

You also have no argument against the rest of my post so have a) selectively commented and b) misquoted at that.

Not only that I was actually arguing against the Southampton model and said both their model (buy cheap sell high) and ours (buy high sell low) are not sustainable. Ours is probably more sustainable if you're able to rake in some cash periodically (eg, selling AWB).

Frankly I think every team in the league aside from the top 6 plus Everton and Wolves (the latest nouveau cash rich sides) are essentially 'renting' a spot in the PL. No team beyond those ~8 has a long term spot in the league. And that's actually supported by the fact that (I think) Everton and the top 6 (excluding City) are the only PL ever-presents.

Broadly agreed - there really isn’t any model for not returning to the Championship. 7-9 years seems the maximum likely stay. There isn’t really any sign of a settled PL forming - almost exactly half of the top 4 tiers have now played in the PL.

The Soton comparison doesn’t stand up given the number of players they’ve lost in recent seasons. A much better comparison is Watford selling Richarlison - one sale that helped them balance the books and buy in some talent.

The only model for not returning to the Championship I can see is bagging yourself a Sheikh.

I cannot comment whether his sale (£35 mill rising to £50 Mill) helped them to balance the books as I have no knowledge of their finances but in terms of buying talent last season there weren't too many 'Stand-out' players they purchased apart from perhaps Deulofeu and Foster.Others they bought were Navarro,Masina,Wilmot,Sema,Quina and Stuparevic.

‘But I am with Crystal Palace at the moment. That is where my contract is and that is where I will be next season. ‘I have got three years left on my contract. It says I am going to be there, so that is all I can focus on now.

If you don't think that watching a higher standard of football and staying in the PL are not good arguments then perhaps you should just mow your lawn on a Saturday.

And maybe we stand a better chance of doing that 2+ very good players plus some funds rather than 1. Do you actually expect him to stay forever anyway, given the fact he gets lauded everywhere, even by Alan Hansen on motd?

This has been going on for decades. The big reason Wilf is still here is because of his experience with David Moyes. Big clubs won’t pay his value and his wages and we’re looking to change that model as much as we can.

Your wish is similar to a manager’s or a junior fan. You must know the financial, squad and goals situation? It’s been said enough times.

Name me one recent top class player out of the top 6 who’s never left his club/been sold from youth age. It even happens in the top 6.

I’ve been tempted not to bother using my season ticket recently now you mention it, watching a training drill for 95 minutes at Selhurst.

guess who said that ,

That's standard footballer speak. A bit like when the chairman says that he has every confidence in the manager

Haha.

Do you mean someone who wants his team to beat other teams?

Guilty.

It seems that a chunk of our outspoken fan base are amateur accountants.
I wonder if they are the same ones who spend the whole week sulking when we lose.

The day am happy to sell our best ever right back is the day I give up football.

We will not be better off for selling him.

We have to increase revenue streams and get better investment and take a financial loss until we do or risk the financial meltdown of relegation. Then all our decent players will be sold.
