Let's see how much we spend on a right back.

Your platitudes bore me. We sold a player purely for money so we are a selling club and we will be the worse for it defensively.

I am in the odd position for once, that I hope I am entirely wrong about the wisdom of this.
One thing I am sure of is that a player like Bissaka comes around once in a blue moon for Palace and we just waved him goodbye after one season.
How happy can any real football fan be? Unless they supports United of course.

Your broken record project fear hyperbole bores me.

What else should we sell a player for? Stock options? A packet of skips and a box of milk tray?

Yes we sold for money, and do you know why? Because we need money. Its simple isnt it, you dont need a degree in economics and capitalism to understand what went on here.

You dont become a selling club because you sell one player! Utter tripe, as usual. That is absolute nonsense. Parish and co have been s***e at selling players in fact with the exception of Bolasie which was a great bit of business.

Please google "selling club" to learn what the phrase actually means. We sell far too few players to qualify I am afraid.

If we are a selling club how do you explain us having the best attacker outside the top 4 on our books, head and shoulders above any attacking players at any team around us?

You cant, because your argument is the usual tripe.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Did the board cave in to Man U on AWB transfer' by becky

When the deal goes through it will be the 5th highest transfer fee for a defender in the world! Nobody had heard of him 2 years ago and now we’ve got more than £1m for every senior game he’s played for us! Wanting £50m and realistically getting £50 upfront was always unlikely especially once AWB said he wanted to go! Good fee for a great player good luck to him and so long as we reinvest most of that in the squad a good bit of business from the club!

80 odd pages of arguing about whether this is a good deal for us or not. I know Talksport is not exactly the Mecca of reliable news stories but they had Mel Morris on there talking about the Frank Lampard issue, with him being given permission to talk to Chelsea, which, ostensibly, for a lot of Derby fans seems to be a defeatist move by the club. Mel Morris said that, fans and those people outside the club have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. What might seem like a suicidal move from a fans perspective, might well be deemed a very positive move by those involved in the actual negotiation,

I’m going to take an over arching generalisation here, but I’m guessing not many of you were involved in the Crystal Palace side of negotiations for this particular transfer.

Have faith in those that were involved, because surprisingly they have more experience in professional premier league transfer negotiations than we do.

We won’t have the best attack out of the top 4 if Wilf goes, we got by last season by the skin of our teeth again, don’t let that finishing position fool you. We most probably do need the money, but the fact we are paying Tekkers over the odds grinds my gears...

Great bit of business. Would of course have loved him to stay but he is an asset we can’t afford not to cash in on with our stadium plans etc. If he didn’t follow up next season with as good a performance his value would be adversely affected (plenty of young players who sparkled early and faded out), Heaven forbid if he suffered a career ending injury we’d have lost 50 million. Right time to sell. Wish him all the best and hope he continues to improve and fulfil his potential. Thank you Aaron. Come back in a couple of years for £10 million please.

Totally agree. Good business for both clubs.Gutted he is leaving but too much money for us to turn down and a right back is not the hardest position to resolve. I hope he gets to the very top as it would be great to see another youth product reach their full potential.

Hopefully this will mean we can play serious hardball for Zaha as he will be much harder to replace.

Good luck AWB, it has been brief but you are a player who will always be remembered. Best fullback I have seen at the club since Sansom and when Ashley Cole came on loan.

Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.

I said best attacker, Gary, not best attack.

Our strikers are a joke.

We won’t know if it’s a good deal for the club for a few months.
Some people are making the assumption that we will buy some talented expensive players with the money to have an immediate impact on the first team.
I remain sceptical as we seem to be in cost cutting mode and none of us know the impact of the uncertainty around the ownership.
We seem to be looking at free transfers, loans and players out of contract.
I’m all for a bargain but I’d like to see a more imaginative transfer strategy which smaller clubs like Bournemouth, Watford and Southampton seem to manage.
If we sell Zaha as well we will know the problems are more deep rooted and I hope this will not be the case as I genuinely believe Parish is ambitious for the club.
I just can’t see a longer term strategy or vision.

All that matters is Wilf staying, Forget AWB, Wilf stays mid table, goes relegation a strong possibility, he has a four year contact, just say no sale

Love the sentiment, although I'm not sure our boards' historic scattergun approach/ high wages for average players lends credibility to having blind faith in their ability to secure favourable/successful transfers.

More likely in this instance they've cashed in on a ridiculous profit on an asset.

It'll be more telling to see what they do with the money.
