I wish him the best of luck.

£50M for a right back who's played 1 full season is a good peice of business.

I'll miss his flying last ditch tackles. Although, I did have a few unpopular doubts about his ability. No doubt a really good player, but he seemed to give the ball away a lot, his positioning had a lot to work on but he got away with it because of his pace. I'd also question why he was so often found in the position where he had to make a last ditch tackle.

When Wilf left, there was a reluctance to let him go, but it seemed there was also some pride that we produced a lad who was expected to go on an achieve great things at Man U. The reaction today shows how far we've come and how far they have fallen.

Let's wait and see how he's replaced.

Ditto.

He’s not exactly Obama but in fairness that’s not what he’s paid for

I personally think AWB has a lot of flaws to his game and could struggle under the weight of expectation.

He is going as the most expensive defender in Man United's history. Will the defenders there talk him through games, as ours do? Will the fans forgive sloppy passing & positional errors, as ours do?

He's a funny player is AWB. Snake-like speed in the tackle, wonderful control for a full back...and yet, and yet...something still doesn't convince me.

He may well make it. But I believe the Man U fans -- and players -- will need to forget the price tag. I hope they do because I don't want to see his talent wasted.

It’s a strange one, I felt far more sad when we lost Zaha, and even when we lost Mile, Yannick and Murray I was more upset than this.

I honestly feel like we have done really well!l out of this! AWB was great for us but not at all the complete player and he had a lot of support from Andros and Tomkins throughout the games. I will be interested to see how Andros gets on if we get a defender who doesn't need that same level of support in game, it might help him.

AWB was a joy to watch, but that kind of money will be so useful for us. We could replace him well enough with 35 million to spare. It’s a boost for our academy long term as it proves that we offer players a route to the very top.

I wish AWB well there but think he needs to make a big impression there straight away. I can see OGS gone by Christmas, so AWB will need to have shown he can cut it straight away so any new manager coming in has no choice but to start him....otherwise we'll be resigning him for £10m in 18 months time.

Totally agree. Good business for both clubs.Gutted he is leaving but too much money for us to turn down and a right back is not the hardest position to resolve. I hope he gets to the very top as it would be great to see another youth product reach their full potential.

Hopefully this will mean we can play serious hardball for Zaha as he will be much harder to replace.

Good luck AWB, it has been brief but you are a player who will always be remembered. Best fullback I have seen at the club since Sansom and when Ashley Cole came on loan.

Yep, Spot on about Samson and Cole, i also liked Clint Hill, i know he was a completely different type of player and not classy to look at.

What's the betting that he'll be named in the next full England squad, now that he's a member of the 'right' club?

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I don't think he will be actually.

He didn't have a good time with the U21's and I think Southgate will stay loyal to Walker with AA as back up.

This was my doubt about him. The mainstay of his game is slide tackling. For any defender that is the last resort. Watch Kenny Sansome, who was never on the floor because his positional sense was top class. I hope he does well but he still has a lot to learn

I agree with your sentiments. I suspect he will suffer under the weight of expectation. 50 mil for someone who has played one season of premier league football is good business. Palace fans are extremely forgiving and over look mistakes from one of their own. Manure fans will be an entirely different proposition.

IMHO this first sentence negates the second sentence. Not sure you're gonna miss AWB when we haven't had time to get used to him yet. Compared to losing someone like Wilf I won't miss him much at all.
