Sell AWB for megabucks, get a low-risk, decent replacement, spend 20 million on building a scouting network, organizational structure and an enhanced player development system. Stop buying until that structure is up and running and if we fail in the meantime, too bad.

Agreed. I think you can find low-risk decent right backs for 10 times less what big clubs are offering for AWB right now. I can think of same type of right back for just 2-3 million.

I say sell the moment someone offers 20+ million for him (Everton anyone or straight swap with Lookman?).

If we go down and there are no offers from top 6 for him and we keep him one more year, his value might decrease exponentially to as low as 2 million and he'll just become another Dominic Iorfa or Kyle Naughton or Andre Wisdom in the Championship, all once evaluated for a high future as right backs after a promising start.

Dominic Iorfa was a centre-half by trade and it was Kenny Jackett whilst at Wolves who converted him into a right-back.

AWB is making a name for himself in the PL, I don't recall Iorfa playing in the top division and I think that Wisdom only played now and then for Liverpool so the situations are a tad different.

Maybe my memory is playing tricks and I am spouting errant tosh - I am getting on in age, 66 today !!!!

Happy birthday!!

Iorfa did have 13 starts for the England U21 national football team so was considered one pretty hot prospect for the right back spot.

With Palace it is not if players are sold, but when. Jimmy Cannon was never considered to be worthy of a top level club, so stayed and would still be there but for age!
I think we will see a direct swap of AWB for Clynne.

I seriously doubt it! Clynne has a significant drug problem. Such things will scupper his move to us or most other top clubs.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Wardy. But rather keep AWB.
