Are you suggesting that Parish makes the final decision regards transfers having been in consultation with his scouting team then presents them to the manager as a 'Fait accompli' ? My understanding is that this is not the procedure that is followed.

In terms of pre-season spending of the teams highlighted, Watford spent £25 Mill but brought in £45 Mill primarily on account of the Richarlison sale.
Brighton spent over £60 Mill and brought in £11 Mill.
Bournemouth spent £46 Mill and brought in around £20 Mill.

I have only my perception of how the process works, but I would like to hear what your understanding is

I think there's a strong case to be made that Parish has not given Roy the players that he wants for his style - Hodgson made a point of not including Rakip last season, and the Meyer transfer really seems like Parish going 'great prospect on a free, we'll have him' rather than bringing in someone who fits Roy's style - as evidenced by Roy's reluctance to use such a promising player and the difficulty finding a way to fit him into the system. Our best transfer windows - the January transfer windows under Pulis and Allardyce - have been when a proven manager comes in and knows who they want, while Parish in emergency mode acquiesces. You are right that managerial turnover has resulted in a bit of a jumble of players, but I think the Meyer transfer in particular shows the club bringing in a good-looking player rather than considering what we need for the manager's style - someone physical and dynamic (like RLC) rather than intricate and neat.

Parish was recently defending the small amount of time our 7 latest signings have actually spent on the pitch, on the FYP pod a few weeks back. When speaking about Meyer he basically said its a no lose situation, as he was on a free.

A lot of the time we dont know at all what has gone on behind closed doors but Parish does give clues away when he speaks on topics.

To me that clearly indicates he pushed forward with the Meyer signing, without it necessarily being something Hodgson totally supported.

If anyone disagrees with that and believes that Max Meyer was top of RH's list, then even accepting the lack of a preseason how on earth do you explain how he has been used this season? Also please list players such as Meyer who have thrived in Hodgson's system at other clubs.

The Barry Bannan comparisons are a bit harsh, but there was another player that despite being good on the ball and technically solid, couldn't find a home in the team.

You can go out and sign a very expensive player in this game, but if the manager doesnt fancy him you have literally tossed millions down the khazi.

Personally I think Meyer has to be in a number 10 type position, but Roy doesnt exactly play that way.

Sorloth and Ayew simply dont affect the game. We dont have a single game changer/impact player to come off the bench with yesterdays starting lineup.

Our options in the final third are not just light 1 or 2, but maybe 3 or even 4 players.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Just that there isn't a culture of 'Fait accompli' as I have mentioned. There is dialogue between various parties apropos requirements and potential transfers. This I believe is the general rule - one can only speculate if there have been any exceptions ! There are of course financial constraints and Parish being the Chairman sets the parameters in terms of transfer spending.

If Fulham carry on in their current vein, losing games and conceding goals after spending nigh on £100 Mill in pre-season then there is every chance they will appoint a new manager and this could be the catalyst for their change in fortunes.

Well said, one team always picks it up and moves on and out. Hudds are down, i don't think Newcastle will change too much, southampton are due.. it's all ifs and butts but the initial comment is one to be wary off, a team breaking away after a change.

Yeah, simple, why didn't anyone else think of this. You should be our Chairman and Manager, give Dougie a bit of a handout as well.

So you think my expectation after 6 years in the prem of a solid youth set up, decent scouting network and going for a cup run is unrealistic?

Ok mate, carry on printing big name signings on the back of ya shirt - that's all that matters right?
