Where do you draw the line ? What if Vardy scythes down Arter at knee height ? Do you just have a word with Vardy because he's emotional ? Or send him off for serious foul play ? Stupid law, correct decision

Not seeing an infringement in law, is not the quite the same as ignoring the law because someones boss has passed away. I get it's an emotive subject, but it's the laws passed down by FIFA that are to blame here, NOT the ref.

If you're a total jobsworth yeah, I don't do everything my boss tells me, if I don't think something is right I won't slavishly follow the rule book, I use my discretion. Surely refereeing by definition is to make judgement and use the laws of the game as his fall back. That's how it should be

i read this scenario after it happens and it makes sense... if he hadnt have booked gray after his celebration and a cardiff player did the same whilst on a yellow later in the game he could not have sent off the cardiff player who then could go on to score the winner. its a silly rule, but the ref had no choice but to follow the rules!
