Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

You beat me to it. That’s a programme that certainly wouldn’t be made today. Laughs at national stereotypes.

I watched the box set of Steptoe & Son about 6 months ago. The use of the n word along with ‘poof’ etc was just accepted.

Mind Your Language was actually praised in certain quarters for providing acting roles for thesps who, owing to their ethnicity, otherwise found difficulty in getting TV work.

Certainly wouldn’t have any problems today. They would be on the new Doctor Who for sure! The teacher could play the token white middle class male, who’s totally useless of course!

Nowadays you would take to twitter in disgust, then, someone was getting a "smack in the mouth". If the person on the receiving end was hard enough.

You would take to Twitter to say that "your seven year old daughter had remarked that..........."

The reason why we can't laugh at the foreigner's expense is obviously that we now have millions of them living here.
Sadly it is not just a question of being polite. It is a political agenda to suppress objections and antagonism from the White British majority related to the ills of mass immigration.
We are having our culture changed largely to our detriment with the threat of prosecution if we object too loudly to it. The nature of what films and TV can now be made be is a symptom of that. The industry is full of liberal Lefties quite happy to yield to pressure from the puppet masters.

I don't say that some aspects of British arrogance aren't changed for the better by our new 'enlightenment' but it is the agent of that change that we should be worried about. As immigrant numbers grow, we will become the butt of the joke and some of the witless fools and useful idiots on the Left will laugh along too as we watch everything that we held dear disappear into a third world cesspit.

Modern feminism also comes from a similar place. As more women get in positions of power they quite naturally start making more demands. They want to be the boss. The same will happen with immigrants.

Ironically, some of the cultures that we now embrace hold beliefs that make any misogyny and sexism that we once had look like an episode of Loose Women. Let's not even mention homophobia.

So when you next see that episode of Fawlty Towers that has been censored, stop being all pleased with yourself for being 'woke' and remember that the joke is on you, or at least it soon will be.
