It is then hardly surprising that many people take that on face value and see Black people in that light. Especially those they perceive as spoilt flashy Black footballers.

Quite often perception is more important than reality, and remember that you are talking about a Black population of 2% and profile in sport that is hugely disproportionate. It won't always be an easy ride.

His admission that stories are covered differently (or not at all) depending on skin colour or social background tells us that there is institutionalised racism within the industry whether you are prepared to accept it or not.

Why would writing for the Mail carry more 'weight'? It's what you write that matters.
