I’m not saying they can’t. All I’m saying is that statistically this is the best it has EVER been. Perhaps we should enjoy it and get behind the board and team becuase they are clearly doing a lot better than ALL before them.

I work with Man City, Man U, Brighton, Charlton, West Ham, AFC Wimbledon and Blackburn fan (as I’m sure we’ll all do). My partner is a Leicester City fan and all show their displeasure about some aspect of their club. It shows that no matter what success comes our way, ppl will still not be happy.

Expectations of fans are high relative to anticipated performance at all clubs. How do you think Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham fans feel about not winning the league? How do think Stoke fans feel after establishing themselves so well in the top league.

That’s the point. How can the board ever satisfy their respective fans of anticipated performances are always changing? It’s impossible

If Riedewald had been given a proper shake maybe he would give a sh&t and wouldnt be overweight.

He came through at Ajax - they have a world class youth system and generate a lot of very good footballers.

When he got a shot he was the best player for us against Man City last year.

I am not watching the training sessions, but that doesnt mean that RH always makes the best decisions when he picks the team.

The handling of Sorloth has been very poor aswell, he was guaranteed to fail with 30 mins here and there. If you are going to say a player is good enough to sign, then give him a fair chance.

Sometimes you have to take a chance and trust a player's pedigree. Riedewald came through at one of the truly elite acamedies in world football, and he is not good enough to warm our bench ahead of Puncheon?

Really? Some would say he should give a s**t, anyway and try to force himself into the team , or at least the bench rather than sulking and not trying. Played for the u23s again today and got a 5, loWest mark of the team. Surely an Ajax academy player should be running rings round U23 players?

Relative to the club's history our last few years have been a massive success, not got many complaints but this squad should be comfortably mid table with an outside chance of 7th. That should be our expectations this season and hodgson is failing.

the bigger picture is that we are failing and it looks to only be a matter of time until the inevitable happens if things don't change.

Sure, 6 years in the prem looks good, but the content is that the club has struggled to keep its place, spending over the odds to retain it's position, losing money that would instead go into the clubs infrastructure - the youth set up, training ground, scouting.

Being in the premiership, regardless of who we play against, the rewards for that league allows you to build the club and you become part of that league and you progress with it.

Anyone can see that we have taken the money, tried to save it, invested it in the wrong players, back tracked and spent it all and looked around us wondering where it's all gone.

It's like the kid who got 5k for xmas, he spent his money on tarting up an old bmw, it then needs servicing and more money and he's then skint and taking out loans and one day he will have no car or money - when instead he was advised to get a basic ford fiesta and save the rest.

I dunno, how else are some deluded fans going to realise the way we are going is down.

Well said that man. Expectations appear to be that we should be like say Everton by now. We are punching above our weight for a reasonably small club and managing our budget is probably far harder than for many other teams in this division. You only have to look at Newcastle to understand that there is no entitlement to sit at the top of the top table. If it were simply down to bums on seats and gate income then they would be right up there consistently with the top 6.

I agree that we should be seen to be progressing, but however well we do there will always be those that complain that we should be doing better.

I’m just happy being a Palace fan because I might have to watch some s***e at times but I know that for a portion of the season at least, we will play like Barcelona.

We're concerned about this season - a season when inadequate transfer business (typical of a general pattern of bad business) may destroy all of our progress, when this could have been averted.

All I ask is that you consider how all the fans felt every time we got relegated in the past and whether you think we should be more entitled to stay up this time and what the difference is.

Your defence of Reideweld is misplaced. He is a professional footballer and very well paid, the least Palace are entitled to expect is that he is fit and at playing weight recommended. He may of had one good game, but is obviously not consistent, like say McArthur.

Coming from Ajax doesn't automatically mean your good, Dutch football has been on the decline for years.

Not all players can step up to a higher level and in a foreign country. This is the case with Sorloth, there have been many players come from aboard and sink without a trace as they cant produce. We know about Sorloth as he is here, I expect every club has their own version, but we don't hear about them.

Pretty crap, which is why I want to avoid it this time! And such is the state of our squad, with poor players on massive wages, that relegation this time would be disastrous. Not just ripping up and starting from scratch, but completely hamstrung by our poor investments.

If we go down, the board can't shrug and go 'Hey, we gave it our best shot' - they have to say that they failed to equip Hodgson with what he needed.

Fair enough. I would like to think that there are relegation clauses in players contracts that say F off if we go down, but you can bet there are not.

You answered your point in your first sentence. Overseeing 6 years in the Premier, which hasn’t been achieved by any previous Chairman.
This doesn’t mean by any means everything in the garden is rosey quite patently there are problems.
Biggest lost in revenue in our history! He increased the revenue to that level, you can’t have it both ways.

This sort of attitude got Sunderland to where they are today. I have never heard of a business that will accept poor results today for what you did in the past. The past is history and cannot be changed. However the future can!. The revenue question it is all lost if we go down and frankly what we have had, has not been spent very wisely, some would argue wasted by a chairman who has not got a clue on how to run a PL Club!
