To be honest I have not witnessed any extended promulgation by Parish, proferring a mantra pertaining to financial constraints hampering our recruitment process.Certainly no liturgical chant to convince the masses.Perhaps I have not read the words, nor heard the mellifluous voice of Steve Parish in the media as much as some on here !

Must. Stop. Reading. Thesaurus....

I wouldn't have Puncheon anywhere near the team, if I had a choice, he isn't up to it without his mate Pardew.

I am not anti Reideweld, but something isn't right about him. Maybe the rigours of Premier football aren't for him and just cant produce at that level on a consistent basis. There is an interesting interview with Jach on his page on HOL, saying the step up from where he came from was too much.

What is not right about Jairo is how he has been treated IMHO.

But to be fair, you havent seen him enough in a Palace shirt and Premier League level, nor have any of us.

Something look decidedly right with him when he played a blinder versus Man City last year.

Until a player like Riedewald is actually given a run of games, how can he be judged fairly?

In the final analysis, Hodgson doesn't believe that Riedewald fits into his side, rightly or wrongly, and it is he who is responsible for selection.

Riedewald has played as defensive midfielder but we have Milivojevic and Kouyate who can provide the defensive shield.Would you play Riedewald instead of either of them ?

Riedewald can play in central defence.Would one deploy him there in preference to Sakho,Tomkins or even Kelly ?

I don't support the argument that players have not been treated well if they haven't been selected. Some supporters might deem that individual players are worthy of selection above others but this is the judgement call of the manager.

Agreed, But Hodgson is not always right.

Harry Kane taking corners springs to mind, the best goal poacher we have had since Lineker and he is taking corners. Would you have Harry Kane taking corners?

Kouyate was bought after Riedewald was already here. My contention is that Jairo Riedewald hasnt been given a fair chance to show what he can do, as RH has his favourites, usually to his detriment - we played Luka all season long and he was very poor at the start of the year in many games.

There is also a need as you have pointed out many times to move some players off of the wage bill and actually recoup some funds.

We wont get a lot of interest in a player rotting in the U23s.

According to the interviews with Ray Lewington, Reidewald plays in Milivojevic ‘s position but is not considered as good as him hence why he has no game time. The reason why he doesn’t get on the bench is because he is not an all rounder like Kelly who can slot into a number of positions and Milivojevic is also one of our least injured players so not really needed. Before anyone jumps in this, it is our coach saying it is not an opinion.

I am in agreement that on occasions the decisions of managers can be somewhat perplexing but in the final analysis they make them and they live and die by them.

Managers see players in training they know all the facts that we supporters are not privy to and they make selections in good faith. At the end of the day, some players are "Not given a chance" because the manager believes that other options are preferable, rightly or wrongly.

In terms of our current team, I for one cannot fit Riedewald into the starting eleven but with his versatility he is a good option to have on the bench.Riedewald can play as defensive midfielder or in central defence but I accept that Kelly is a tad more versatile in that he can play in both full-back positions(Not that well!) as well as in central defence.

Jairo's Palace career came to an end the day FDB was sacked. Roy never signed him so basically is not interested hence why they tried to farm him out to Swansea. Feel sorry for Jairo really as he deserves some starts he can't do any worse than Luka is at the moment

Unfortunately he didn't look the sharpest in that reserve match against Bristol

That doesn't really make sense as Roy didn't sign most of the players in our first XI. We tried to find him a new club because I imagine it was a position we felt we had adequate cover for.

But he is being written off without being given a fair chance. Is he worse than Puncheon? He can play defence and midfield but can't even get on the bench!! Ridiculous

Players are only given a chance if they have convinced their manager they are worthy of one.Clearly Riedewald is down the pecking order and I suspect only injuries to certain players will see him get a start in the PL.

My views on Puncheon have been well documented and they weren't in the category marked 'Positive' !

You have to ask, why after playing well against City, he was dropped. We then went on a run, where we ended up 11th, so the decision could be seen to be justified as he had Cabaye and RLC to get in front of. Roy obviously doesn't rate him and tried to offload him to Swansea in the summer.
Its the managers prerogative of players he trusts, Reidewald doesn't appear to be one, one can only assume he doesn't impress in training.
Managers do seem to have favourites, Dowie kept on playing Tom Soares after one good game, only to have nearly 150 crap ones after. On making my way to the ground hearing he was in the team used to piss me off, as I knew he would be useless again, unfortunately he was. Stoke were foolish enough to but him, only to stink the Britannia Stadium out and lasted only 7 games for them.
