We have no strikers at the club who are fit and able to score goals.

Parish has totally failed to furnish the football club with any attacking threat outside of Zaha. We are not just light 1 or 2 but possibly 3 or 4 attacking players - wingers and strikers etc.

Parish is a schoolboy operator when it comes to transfers, still, even after all of these windows.

On to Roy - he is not so much stubborn, as just set in his ways as old timers tend to be. Harry Kane taking corners springs to mind. Hodgson keeps trying to get the team to operate as it did in the Leicester 5-0 game, but without Cabaye and RLC its just not happening.

I thought the Burnley game may have been a turning point but today was abysmal. RH has to be accountable for the tactics and approach and not changing things sooner. Trying to play through the middle of them by having Luka blast passes into the middle of their box through 15 bodies is insane.

Both .Roy has not been given a squad fit for a premier league season ,that has to be addressed in January or we will find our nails being a little shorter come May .

Hodgson though seems unable to change things during the game .Whether thats because he has a weak bench or he just doesn't know how to work it out I don't know . Last night though was crying out for us to spread the play ,get wide and use our wingers to their abilities ,to persist in playing into their packed defence seemed clueless .
I don't think he is getting much help from Lewington either .As assistant he doesn't seem to be assisting very much .

I don't think a change in manager is going to do much all the time we have a lot of players who are on big money and not quite up to it.

I dread to think how much the wages of players like Dann, Puncheon, Speroni, Guaita, Kelly, Jairo, Schlupp, Ward, Sorloth and Williams are costing us per week and they have barely played 10 games between them this season

You can only assume that if the average wage of that lot are £20k a week then that's £200k a week of players that we'd struggle to get off the books and stop us from spending any more on players due too FFP.

The only way out of this is to break FFP and pay the fine for exceeding the wage limit. But we won't do that.

The blame for me has to lie at poor management from the board to have brought in so many players at high cost and wages that have either been ego buys or just simply not good enough. I mean I love Jules but paying what is mooted to be £20k a week for a 39 year old who doesn't play out of sentimental reasons is madness, club legend or not.

Just read Hodgson's post match comments.

He starts by saying "we won the second half comfortably"

We were Already 3-0 down against 10 men, we didn't have a striker on the pitch until the 70th minute and we can't score from open play!

f***ing idiot.

I mentioned privately, and maybe here on HOL, that whilst the win was very welcome, we shouldn't read too much into it as Burnley were totally and utterly abject and looked far from being a PL team.

Reality hit us last night and the performance was totally and utterly unacceptable.Lots of negative mutterings about Hodgson and whilst these might have been as emotions were running high, perhaps in the cold light of day these same supporters will be of the same opinion.

Sad to say, another defeat looms on Saturday at W.Ham and another inept performance will only increase the calls for him to be relieved of his duties.Personally I cannot see the Board acting in the near future.

I don’t think you can fault too many of the players efforts. Tomkins had a poor game but he usually gives 110%.

The main problem as we all know is a lack of a striker. BUT we have known about this problem since the summer and yet we didn’t buy a goal scorer. We have absolutely nothing to aim at up top and time and time again it costs us.

Is that Roy’s fault or the boards?

Looking at the forums I would say the reaction is fairly balanced and not just a reaction to the bad defeat yesterday.
Most people agree,
1) our current strikers are not, and are unlikely, to be good enough
2) our scouting is not fit for purpose for a premier club of this duration
3) Hodgson is tactically inflexible and doesn’t know how to effect in game changes
4) he is trying to play the same way that served us well last season but without the same players at his disposal.
He does not react to the opposition and we seemed totally unprepared for Brighton even though we knew exactly how they would play. You cannot employ the same tactics and approach every game e.g it’s different playing Arsenal at home to Brighton away.
One thing is sure - he won’t change his approach so if results don’t improve the board will have a decision to make.

The constant in all our time in the PL has been SP, each year he gets worse and really struggles to get decent players to come to us. He is a control freak, he will not listen to his Managers and I have no doubt some have left because of his stubborn attitude to players coming in, his controlling attitude puts players off and his selection for a Director of Football (DF) is a complete joke, DF is only there because he will not challenge SP, anyone who does that either leaves or is not recruited in the first place. SP has been aware of our striker problem for a year or more now and all he does is get loan deals or unproven players in on the cheap. his main interest is the new grounds currently which will look really great half empty in the championship!

And if the board do decide to change the manager who do you think would be interested in the poisoned chalice of a job

I don't believe that the board are even contemplating a change at this stage but we could reach the situation that matters become so dire they will be forced into one and should this happen then of course their choices will be limited particulary if a change is sought with not that long to go in the season.

Allardyce took on the job in December with us in 17th place and a transfer window to come and he is known as manager clubs can rely on to save them from the drop.

I agree, it's not RH who is at fault, he has little options to play with, the bench last night was really weak because we do not have a good enough squad, Brighton, Watford and Bournemouth have all developed in the PL much better than we have and in a shorter time because they have Chairman who allow their Managers to manage, SP is the one who needs to go and quickly!
