Yes and so there's f*** all excuse for not using Sørloth like that. He may not be Harry Kane but he is at least a proper unit, and it's better than playing five men in the wrong positions, pissing off the players who should be getting a proper chance, and pardewing everyone all over again.

I think Roy saw enough from the set up in the run of games starting with Everton and ending with Burnley to think that it was working ok. If he’d changed things after the Burnley game and put Sorloth in against Brighton he’d have been derided. Remember Sorloth was battered for his miss against Spurs.

The biggest thing about the last two games is the previously reliable defence and Tomkins in particular suddenly looking fragile and West Ham’s attacking quality and options. The point about players being stale / complacent is a fair one but I don’t think it would arise if we had more options.

Roy’s already shown us what he can do with a balanced squad and options.

Things are stale because of a lack of centre forward and decent attacking midfield options. Too many functional midfield players.

Personally I’d shake things up and play Sorloth or Ayew CF. The latter had a half decent game against Spurs apart from his contribution to their goal.

These boards were full of people saying we were a better side without Benteke a couple of months back which is utter bollocks despite his lack of goals.

That’s Roy’s doing. We knew Roy liked functional midfield players from his Fulham day’s. Danny Murphy couldn’t say it any more times.

Been glaring from early in the season. Too much attention to us “just” needing a striker.

Not so sure it’s all Roy’s doing. We’ve got a Director of Football constantly referred to as “Doug” Freedman. Don’t think Meyer and Kouyate are what we needed at all much as they’re ok players.

Have you seen Sorloth play? He may look like a proper unit but he's got as much physical presence as Jonny Williams.

The biggest mistake this season was letting Bakary Sako go.

Zaha has some green grass in front of him here. Finds Ambrose
not a bad effort ooooooooooh! what a goal by Darren Ambrose absolutely stunning strike!!! And, Crystal Palace lead @ Old Trafford.

Spent most of his time tossing it off. Injured or overweight. Made a bit of an effort in his last season when he was playing for a contract but not featured much for West Brom.

We didn't let him go

He chose to leave once his contract expired then later on wanted to come back but it was too late (Had Punch gone on final transfer day Sako would of been back but we hit squad limit)

I think we just buy just who’s available, or known to be available if you see what I mean. That’s another reason why Parish likes deadline day purchases that are like a tombola with regards to fitting the team, in addition to price and saving wages up until deadline day, regardless of whether the team and manager benefit from them training together earlier.

Honestly it is both.

You have to ask yourself, after 6 seasons of this, do you really believe we can suddenly and utterly change the narrative of Crystal Palace FC, without making a cultural change to the very fabric of how the club is run?

Every year it is basically the same story, and what was it Einstein said about doing the same thing over and over?

If we fire RH, and get a new manager in, it will be a stop gap type appointment I would imagine. It could last a year or 2, then it will probably turn sour, and we repeat the cycle again.

We need someone to come in and build something at this club, RH may not be the one simply down to how old he was when we signed him. If he is going to be fired anyway then Parish and the Yanks must be decisive and take action before the January transfer window, and back the new manager. If we need to sell to do that, then we need to sell, as we are drifting out of the league at the moment.

I hear people saying that recruitment isn't the issue, and that Roy needs to work his squad more and manage better, and so on. Some others say our recruitment, specifically of attacking talent, has been abysmal for most of the cpfc2010 tenure, and Roy isn't to blame. There is truth in all of that.

Parish has come a long way since that first Prem transfer window under Holloway but in many ways he still is, and perhaps will always be out of his depth as a Premier League chairman.

After last season it was plain to see we had 3 major areas of concern re the playing staff. We were losing RLC/Cabaye, we needed a keeper (long overdue), and we needed a striker (long overdue) after Benteke's fall from grace and Wickham questionnable to return to former levels.

We really only addressed 1 of those 3 areas, and we are now paying the price. Roy for his part is at fault for seeming to think we can play the same way with half our midfield missing.

We needed to properly replace Cabaye and RLC, and sign a striker, and we did neither.

If we are constrained so much by FFP that we cannot do better than a net spend under 10 mil last summer then this is a total failure of Parish and the board for sanctioning the Sakho signing. Sakho should have never been signed if it meant we could not bring in adequate replacements for RLC/Cabaye and also sign a striker which would add value.

Instead we bring in Sorloth and Ayew to solve the striker problem, and get in Max Meyer (good signing) and Kouyate (good signing) but in neither one do we have an RLC type player.

Whilst I understand what you are saying and agree with a lot of it, the signing of Sakho pre-dates the replacement of RLC and Cabaye so is irrelevant unless you are saying we simply shouldn’t have signed Sakho in the first place. Finding a replacement for Cabaye was important, but difficult and RLC even more important/difficult. Despite the fact he doesn’t play that often at Chelsea, players of his ability are few and far between. He should be in their starting lineup every week, but their manager just doesn’t see it that way. If you could suggest a replacement who is available and affordable for either of those positions I would be interested in hearing it.

This post just highlights your lack of understanding and maturity. If we signed CB’s and strikers that didn’t cost £25-£30 million and 75% of our net spend then we would have money, or room to spend in the 3 year FFP cycles, to buy other players that become the next priority. To achieve that you need good scouting and people with experience hired close to you.

We sign mega money signings because we don’t do these critical things and effectively hamstring ourselves within that 3 year FFP cycle if they’re never going to bend the rules as others do.

It’s do bl33ding obvious I can’t believe I’ve had to post it. Have a good day.

That doesn't really make sense as Roy didn't sign most of the players in our first XI. We tried to find him a new club because I imagine it was a position we felt we had adequate cover for.

All the players signed by Allardyce were already established in the 1st team before Roy arrived so he wouldn't want to cause too much upheavel there. It just seems that with Jairo he was on a bit of a hiding to nothing sort of last in first out scenario and that the club wanted rid of anything to do with FDB at all cost
