Both.

Parish - he is Dr facto the board - has gone through managers like a dose of salts. They make various excuses to leave after bringing in at cost their favourite players most of which are not suited to the next man's style.

We clearly have money issues as we increasingly are reliant on free transfers and loans and as others have said we continually fail to invest in strikers who can either stay fit or score goals or both.

Roy seems too set in his ways. No plan B and is possibly just too nice. He doesn't show passion or excitement or anger in interviews or on the touchline. He simply goes for a world weary look.

We had all that money come in from America, maybe we are saving it to build our new stadium but that will be a white elephant if we are relegated. (Or a cynic could say a lot of that money went in allowing a return for the original investors.)
January is key. We need to start looking now for the mysterious 'line,' we can never get over and not leave it to an hour before deadline.

Others have mentioned it, Jokanovic?

I wouldn't be against appointing him, btw I'm not saying Roy should be sacked, just offering a name who would probably come here.

Genuine question, a few people have said we approached the game tactically wrong what should we have done?

Most people would have excepted Townsend and Zaha as the starters, cutting in and exposing Dunk and Duffy lack of pace. That seemed a solid game plan especially as we had torn apart a similar well organised team like Burnley on Saturday. What were the pre match alternatives? Ayew up front in a more traditional 4-3-3? hardly worked well when he has started Ayew before has it. Sorloth up front with Zaha and Townsend getting behind the full back and knocking in crosses?I can't think what else Sorloth adds to our game other than being a big lad , if we had atarted like this the outrage on here would have been immense.
Potentially , given how well Meyer and Zaha linked on Saturday he could have pushed the pair more central and done 4-5-1 but we are clutching at straws and Zaha is not a central striker.
Once Duffy was sent off and they basically strung 6 out along the edge of the area and killed all the space it just compounded the lack of alternatives we have. They were comfortable sitting back and saying go on then play through us, safe in the knowledge we posed no aerial threat and they could and did crowd us out if we cut inside.
Had we had Beteke at least we would have been able to smack balls into the area and force them to close us down further up the pitch to stop us getting the balls in and creating more space for Zaha, Meyer and Townsend to work in.

One supporter of hacking argued that without it "you will do away with the courage and pluck of the game, and I will be bound to bring over a lot of Frenchmen who would beat you with a week's practice -Blackheath secretary at first meeting of the F.A

No thank you.
Spent nigh on £100 Mill in pre-season,kept chopping and changing his team and was sacked with Fulham bottom of the table.
But there is no vacancy and unlikely to be in the foreseeable future.

He's trying to do the same as what he did last season without Cabaye and RLC. It just won't work.

That would be a fair comment if it wasn't for the fact Benteke missed countless chances a player like him should put away.

It isn't like he didn't have one of the best xg stats (or worst depending how you look at it) last season. It showed he had a lot of chances he should have scored but didn't.

That said I do agree out system doesn't suit him but I said before he signed that he isn't a Palace type of striker.

And how much of that money do you think he chose to spend? It's widely thought that he didn't choose most if not all of the signings.

Completely agree.

I think he tried to change too much, too quickly at Fulham but is still a decent manager.

Anyway it doesn't matter as Roy will be here for the forseeable barring a complete on the pitch melt down over the next 5 or 6 games

Agree - a massive failure at this level in my opinion.

Whilst last night was abysmal and undoubtably the manager has to accept the blame for that I feel that the bigger problem ilies with the management of the club itself.
We now been in the PL for six seasons and we have hardly improved in that time . Yes we have got mid table, briefly, on a few occasions but inevitably spend most of out time looking over our shoulders.
In the meantime ‘smaller’ clubs have been promoted and are now doing far better than Palace have done,in much shorter time.
Where are Bournemouth and. Brighton in the league today?

It seems that the club management do not have - maybe nnever had- a long term plan for the development of the club. They either happy to just go along ‘ on a wing and a prayer’ or are incapable of doing otherwise.
As things stand we will inevitably get relegated, if not this season then next,or the one after that. I feel sure we will then look back at our many years in the PL as both a wasted opportunity as well as
a hugh waste of the money gained over those years. What will we have to show for it? We will be back in the Championship with the same type of players and the same type of stadium that we had when we beat Watford in the play offs all those years ago.

Hopefully I will feel a little more optamistic when the memory of last night has faded in a week or month or After we beat than at home.

This is the problem for me. Who else is out there. I dont want some foreign manager with no experience in the premier league. Only one I can think of is Allardyce but I just dont think thats likely at all. We are not in a position to appoint a fresh new young face it has to be someone off the conveyor belt of fire fighters. Thats just depressing. Why are we here again!

ps- It better not be bloody freedman!

This was lifted from the BBS but I think sums it up for me :

We were beaten by a better run club tonight. They’ve been in premier league 1.5 years, they’ve signed smart, no vanity signings..just good scouting with enough depth and quality. We haven’t had a premier league quality striker for 18 months, we have dougie freedman, Ian moody and his friends signing players like Jach, Rakip and Sorloth , whilst they hire the FA technical director Dan Ashworth. We are just poorly run, simple as that
