The football people in the media keep bigging up the FA cup as the greatest cup competition in the world. The FA promote it year after year as David V Goliath, the haves V the have not's, the Minnows V the Giants.
So after the 3rd round draw, games like Solihull/Blackpool V Arsenal
Tranmere V Spurs
Wrexham/Newport V Leicester
The BBC decide that the romance of the cup is best served by showing Wolves V Liverpool!!!!!!
I'm just so disappointed with football lately, some of these smaller teams have probably played 9 or 10 games to reach the 3rd round. They get drawn against premier league or championship opposition, with huge fan bases and the money generated from such a tie could provide a much needed boost for them.
The chance that they could then be chosen as one of the live games, generating more revenue, and the BBC show us that game. The same teams we watch week in-week out. The BBC would struggle to sell the other games worldwide i suppose, because they really need to make more money don't they, as do Wolves and Liverpool!!!!
It grates on me, the sport i love is being destroyed. there will be no such thing as league one and league two soon. I can't wait for the bubble to burst and the parasites move on to something else when the money from real fans stops coming in.

To echo your point. I forget the tie but a few years back the BBC and to be fair BT Sport chose not to show one of the non league minnows games which was generating a lot of public interest because of how they got there. Instead the BBC put on Man United versus another not very interesting premier league side. It was then pointed out that Man U had been shown live in every FA cup game they had played for about the previous 10 years.

As the OP says the FA cup should be the opportunity to show some cracking lower league games but no lets play safe and for a change show Man United.

Because of the Wembley stadium debt.

After seeing that our game was moved to 5.30 pm I noticed that of 32 3rd round games they have moved 22 of them from 3 pm Saturday kickoffs for TV.

Only 6 of which are for broadcast in the UK.

This is partly my point. The powers that be wonder why clubs don't take the cups seriously anymore and they do things like this!
I know money talks etc, but are the clubs who have had their kick off times moved in order to suit the overseas audience going to benefit financially?
Serious question because i don't know if extra money for TV games just applies to the home market.
If they move the kick offs and the clubs don't benefit at all then surely that's wrong. Keep it up and clubs will be going to court to have the right to not enter the competition at all, thinking manure here.
What a farce!!!

£50K per club. So if the game was £20 a ticket and that reason reduces the gate by 5,000 or more, they'd lose out overall.

In terms of what the fans want when facing a long away journey, as our opposition do, I think they'd prefer to get home on Saturday rather than past midnight.
