He played with great confidence and assurance today and never gave the ball away cheaply. And a cracking goal.

So many have now changed their tune.

Look back over the threat for the usual blend of insults and polemic rants.

This guy has been probably our best performer all season and has put in a series of positive classy displays.

Buy of the season?

Starting to look that way and exposing Benteke for the donkey he is

I was one that questioned buying him - but wow how much he's changed.

I couldn't believe Roy was going to sub him again just before his goal and for Benteke!! WTF does Roy see in Benteke FFS!!

Agree
But if you thought it was a decent buy after his form last year, you are either a liar or mad, no one would have wanted him and rightly so.
Same as everyone wanted Benteke from Liverpool , which has been proven wrong.

But he’s been our best player in every game he has played, good control, strong, quick and 2 decent finishes.
On current form our best player.
Happy that he got his name sang and clapping the fans when it was sung will only make him more popular.

Was he though?
I’d have gone home if he had.

I started to change my opinion of him a little towards the back end of last season mainly based on his workrate and the fact he shed tears when he finally scored a goal - i thought that showed a bit of passion.

When we signed him permanently I felt he was a good squad addition for a very low price while nothing to get excited about but credit to the lad he has been a revelation so far this season.

He had a reasonable Afcon then we gave him a permanent home which must have helped his confidence levels and now he looks to grow in confidence with every game.

Could well turn out to be the bargain of the season.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

Fair comment. I actually thought he was not given enough time last year as opposed to predicting genius. We also did not play to his strengths bung Ariel balls in from the wings asopposed to balls to feet which suits him.

Guess it's also confidence. But he is showing now he can finish.
