He could also get booked in the Cardiff game and miss the next game, Chelsea isn't it?

I hate it when teams concede before a ball is even kicked, even if the odds are stacked against you. Roy will never do that in a league game either. We can't leave players out in case they get booked. I am amazed that Luka has only got four bookings this season though, I thought he got booked almost every game!

Was just having a look at rules on cummulative bans and you get a 1 match ban for getting 5 yellow before the 19th game week ( or 1/2 way through the season ) So if Luka avoids a yellow in both the Man C and Cardiff game he won't get banned unless he picks up 10 yellows before the next cut off which is game week 32.
Personally i would not play him against Man City. If there is a game where your defensive midfielder is likely to pick up a booking this is the one. Cardiff at home is a must win game and all been well we will have Zaha and Tonkins well rested after missing the Leicester game. I would consider playing Ward, Riedewald, or McCarthur in his role or possibly playing with 3 centre halves.

From memory we had a really weakened team against City at home last year and nearly won. Sometimes those fringe players when given a chance can outperform. So I wouldn't be against a couple of changes if it meant resting those that need it. Cardif is a must win game. If we win that then the City and Chelsea games are almost free hits.

I have a horrible feeling Luka may go end of the season.

I expect many teams would be happy to take him even as squad player.

Nah, don't agree. Not fair on Liverpool for a start. But if we were going to nick a point of City, Luka would be a key part of that. We did it last season, no reason why we can't sneak a draw this time round too. Go full strength and get at em'. Play what's in front of you...worry about Cardiff when it comes around.

Just my take.

Yes we did but at Selhurst. I think like Old Trafford we haven't even scored at the Etihad in this stint in the PL. Remember Citeh are a total different team to Man Ure this season. In relation to resting players for this match I'd put out the best team and have a go. Haven't had a pasting this season and don't want one on Saturday. Stirring performance followed by another against Cardiff. We've just had 2 clean sheet wins on the bounce at Selhurst, confident we can make it at least 3 wins, maybe not a clean sheet. COYP !!

If Roy rests Luka for the city game, I will be absolutely fuming. Not because I don’t think it’s a good idea, but because it shows our management to be so amateurish. If they had looked at the City game and Cardiff game and decided to rest Luka against City, why on earth didn’t they tell Luka to get booked in the last two minutes of the Leicester game. I can only think therefore that they intend to lay Luka in both game and hope he doesn’t get booked, and thus reach the reset point. Risky business!

whilst i see the logic, i really would treat every game as a cup final.. let's say we bet city but get luca booked - we would all take that.

If we are in the realms of the hypothetical....given the choice, in our current situation I would rather beat Cardiff than Man City.

Yes he scored a great goal last week but let's not forget how inconsistent Luka has been this season.. His distribution to his own teammates has been shocking at times this season...

However he is a very important first team player but I would rest him against City because I would put my mortgage on him picking up a yellow card and missing the Cardiff game.

I would much rather have him available for Cardiff.

Now know why i am not a football manager!! Great team selection and so happy for everyone but particularly to Luka who more than made up for his penalty miss in the City home game last year.

He hasn't always been at his best this season but he has missed Cabaye badly but he has never hidden and has always asked for the ball whatever the scenario - them new Jedi!
Now that Meyer is coming good as is Kouyate so is he back to his old self.
We cannot afford to lose him - great player and thank Big Sam for that!

Played a Captain's role yesterday.

If I have one minor quibble it's his run up when he takes penalties. It's obvious where he is going to hit the ball yesterday the keeper could do nothing because it was a great strike. However one of these days....

Just a minor quibble yesterday was a great day well done to Milo and the boys.
