I don’t think we should prioritise it, but if a premier league football clubs first choice team can’t play a potential half a dozen extra games there’s something seriously wrong. I know times have changed, but we should play our best side in every game and see where it takes us.

well it seems i'll be the unpopular minority on this one , i think prem survival comes first and cups second . we don't have enough depth in our squad to put out our best side every game , lets face it we are more than likely not going to win the cup and i dont think its worth risking our potential match winners on the cup. if wilf or andros luca or any of the others get their leg broke or do their ligaments because of some grimsby player bad tackle how would our season go , no cup no prem no player . just my opinion

oh yeah ,fcuk off brighton.

I wholeheartedly endorse these sentiments.PL survival is the priority and without being disrespectful to Grimsby we really cannot be risking key players in a home game against League Two opposition.

The facts bear you out. Only 3 teams outside the Big 6 have won the FA Cup since this start of the Premier League, Everton, Portsmouth and Wigan the later 2 imploded and fell through the leagues after winning.
Premier survival is paramount and this is how about 12 Premier teams will view the FA Cup as winning against the odds.

I'm baffled why anyone would turn their nose up at winning a cup or playing in European competition, what else are we in the league for? To consolidate 12th place every season?

What's your best memory as a Palace fan? The answer might differ depending on your age but I'm willing to bet that, for most of you, the answer will involve a day out at Wembley and a playoff win and isn't that what football's all about, those big days out?

I would happily see us relegated if it meant winning either of the cups because ultimately playing in the Premier League comes and goes but seeing Luka stand up there and lift a cup would be a memory that we'd never forget.

Additionally I don't agree with the Burnley example as a reason for not trying to qualify for the Europa League. In my opinion we have a far stronger squad than them and we did last season as well. They played with unsustainable efficiency last year and set themselves impossibly high standards but are now reverting to the mean. Even if it did affect our form though, the chance to get through a few rounds and have an away day against the likes of Inter of Sevilla would be an incredible experience for us.

Should be a thread ; best palace moment...sod it im in. Check the titles in 5 min.

well thats where we differ mate id rather be in the prem league than the second tear of english football . been there done that , maybe when the squad is stronger ok, but that's not likely to happen any time soon .

Odd thinking among Palace fans.

It would have been great to win the cup on the three occasions where we have got close but the cup is not what it was and winning it would not be the thrill that it once would have been.
There is no way that jeopardising our position in the PL is an option or winning the cup in any way a consolation for relegation. Getting into the Europa Cup would be a ball and chain for a club at our level. We cannot win a cup in Europe and the strain on the squad and the fitness timetable could be terminal.

If you can get to the Cup Final while safe in the league then great, but any season with a sniff of relegation threat, forget it.

Prioritising the cup really worked out for Pardew didn't it!
We are not strong enough to guarantee survival year in year out to take one eye off the league. If we could manage say 3 or 4 years established as a top 10 team and at no stage during the season get anywhere near the relegation zone then maybe but right now? No way

Financially its all about the premier , a cup run is a welcome diversion though where knock out football can give the team a bounce that in turn can reflect in league games .

Prioritise no , enjoy yes .

And we still need a striker
