i was told that SP was looking at defoe in this window (3 months back)...I then tried to feed back (through our mutual friend) that he'd be better of going for Wellbeck....so I fear defoe will still be on the cards...but I fecking hope not....3years ago maybe...not now and certainly NOT on his money!

So after the Solanke move fell apart Roy’s comments and attitude spoke volumes especially the we,played work with what we have remark , so therefore and I hate to say this but no transfers (I think we all had our suspicions , however what I can’t figure out is if no one is coming in then why are we letting up to three players leave ? puncheon Williams and Kirby , I have no clue.

I agree...

I don't see how you can conclude that based on Roy's comments, that we will not get anyone in this window.

wickham out on loan,

sorloth out on loan,

puncheon out on loan (view to buy?)

ayew sent back?

leaves us a bit thin with benteke not back until end of jan.

even with a loan leaves us with 3 strikers if benteke was fit and we kept ayew.

If we send Ayew back then that gives us two loan spaces available to fill. I don’t see why we would send Ayew back if we are not going to fill the space made with another loan signing.

People are all over the place after news that Williams and Mutch have gone and punch going , all I’ll say is the squad is thread bare why get rid of the deadwood now and not in the summer ? Unless it’s an ffp thing of course . If there are many injuries like last season I fear we could be screwed !

Possibly we are looking to reduce the wage bill to attract the required quality in front of goal ?

Is that because those two have featured so prominently? If it allows the club to get in a couple of players, or to open the door for promising youngsters I’m all for it.

If we have an injury crisis like last season, then it won’t really matter if Williams and Mutch are still at the club. Williams’ long list of injuries is tragic, but means he is quite probably not up to the PL now, and Mutch, well....

I am confident that even without any more additions the squad is strong enough to finish about 12th. Benteke, Wickham Awey, Wilf, Townsend and Luka have enough goals between them to make it comfortable.
