Whilst this window is turning out to be hugely underwhelming, if by some combination of loans, frees, reduced wages etc etc we managed to secure the short term services of Sako, Bolasie, Cabaye would it not be considered an improvement on the non-scoring Striker, the non-playing midfielders (Punch & maybe Jairo) and the optimists favourites Williams and Kaikai?? I'm not sure how many if any are realistic or even possible but let's be honest, none of us really know the clubs position regarding finances and plans for this or the next few windows. I'm sure we've missed out on players we'd have liked, I'm sure every club has. Imo, 6 months of proven players (albeit slightly past their best ones) is better than the same period with unproven players that clearly the manager doesn't trust.

Seriously?,a player who wba are desperate to get rid of, a player who left us to join a bigger club and now can't get into the Aston Villa team, packed his bags and went back to everton, and a player who couldn't last 90 mins and left to join a team in the uae. Just what we need. Get rid of the deadwood and replace them with...... deadwood ....

We aren’t dishing out long term contracts (at least I hope not!) so we will be no worse off at the end of the season. The signings of Jach,Rakip,Sorloth etc - having to play a keeper in the PL who is 40 this year and bringing in a keeper on-loan who hasn't played a 1st team game for his club.Is it any wonder that many supporters are disillusioned with the club ? But as an insurance policy they are looking at these 3 players on short term, low cost deals, just to give us some extra depth in the remaining fixtures. It’s actually a very shrewd strategy for a club with limited funds.

It's desperation because of the reality and the reason for the reality is a matter for another debate. There are other clubs who are not a global brand or have connections to a Gulf state yet they wouldn't consider getting back players in their 30s who either have seen better days or players who did not really make a major impact, left their club and was eventually snapped up by a club at a lower level and not really made any impact there. Anyway I have made my views clear and it is now time to go out for a pint or two !!!! Edited by Willo (26 Jan 2019 8.09pm)
