I don't think it's as stupid a question as it sounds. If you could of taken away the madness then he may have become a great leader.

He restored national pride, finances and improved infrastructure.

Shame he was a power hungry little racist cretin.

Well I did dignify the question by pointing out the way that many ordinary Germans did benefit in the short term, but ultimately Hitler was never going to be a great leader - war and racial supremacy were inseparable components of his world view, much of the economic recovery relied on war production, and the entire Nazi administrative system promoted increasing radicalisation of policy.

But back to Wayne... I for one have no doubt believing that a PL footballer could be entirely ignorant of history

Even Pussay would have a tough job listing Hitler’s good points.

As we know the National socialists ended up murdering millions of Jews and non Jews and bombed that chippie down the road.

In terms of 'good things' Hitler believed in like good pensions and profit sharing it is obviously a rather touchy subject because he's up there with the worst mass murderers.

The material is out there like Hitler's 25 points for those that are seriously interested in a deeper look.....It really is what it says...a mixture of nationalism and socialism...with hatred of the Jews thrown in... ultimately the whole episode is surrounded in tragedy and countless wasted lives.

Largely the touted ‘good points’ were simple expropriations of prior scheme. We have discussed this before.

The British used the scorched earth policy to bring the Boers to terms. You said that it was the purpose to kill women and children. That's not correct, it was carrot and stick and the Boer chose stick.

Was it justifiable? No, not really, but it ultimately it won that war.....which was largely pointless to begin with.

Again, what the opposition say in parliament is no more reality than what the government say. Because of the opposition's objections to those camps Kitchener closed them and higher numbers then starved.

There is no such thing as agreeing to fight a war and not signing the death warrant of innocents. Indeed, if a country declares war on you....and you decide not to fight it and are invaded....you are then operating on their mercy.....In most cases still indirectly signing their death warrant.

The British chose to ensure the deaths of women and children under their care

It seems you really do think that justified.

Wow.

This just gets to become even more cringworthy:

Not heard of a library or Wikipedia?

On a serious note, go and visit Holocaust exhibition at Imperial War Museum or Auschwitz Concentration Camp and then he'll clock on to gravity of offence that his gesture caused. Doh!

He wouldn't have got where he did without the anti-Jewish aspect. There were a multitude of political parties on Germany at that time, all peddling the same kind of stuff but it was the "something's got to be done about it" rhetoric that swept him into power.

Yeah, people don't tend to like losing wars do they.

Without the concentration camps even more of the Boers would have died.....you can tell them that because that's factual.....because that's what happened after the British stopped them.

Interestingly Jacob Rees-Mogg expressed a very similar viewpoint on BBCs QT, leading to wholesale condemnation in the Sth African media with the right wing Afrikaan lobby group, Afriforum, labelling Rees-Mogg as "ignorant".

Well, if I take my English/British glasses off I'd say they have a right to be angry about the scorched earth policy.

That wins you a war, but making your enemy choose between starvation and coming to terms isn't honorable that's for sure. The Boers choose starvation......frigging middle ages crap right there.

This was a white man's war on African land for who got to control it. A war between Europeans, where the boer were worried about the British making alliances and land promises with Zulus to weaken them further....that probably was the biggest aspect to them agreeing to join the British empire than anything else in the end.

The Afrikaners are hardcore and there will be that element who fight to the death.....it's tragic. I don't agree with taking land without compensation....those farms were built up by Europeans where nothing like them existed before. There should be fairness there.

However, while I don't agree with how the African governments are going about things..... that land is African and they are Europeans. As I said, if they were really Africans they would have assimilated into the population hundreds of years ago.

They should be under no illusions about what's coming down the pipe. But like in the war with the British, the Boer will probably fight until they can't fight anymore.

I urge them to get out while they can.

Not really Maple, I don't think you're really getting what I'm saying.

As for the people they took in.....A British camp shouldn't have been subject to what happened. And like I said, the whole war was pointless anyway.

It was expanded, something you seemed to have had a problem with conceding.

But an inconvenient truth is still better than a comfortable lie.

Common sense that our society still isn't ready for.
