I don't see a team lacking confidence, we've played pretty well lately although our finishing skills is lacking, hopefully a lethal striker would sort that. The Watford game went down hill fast as soon as Hennessey took over in goal, regardless of his pre-injury performances the guy seems to lack the respect / command that Guaita has & as such the back 4 are all over the place.

Although Hennessey did look in trouble for that corner it was a perfectly placed one and it caught the whole lot of them out, somebody on the back post would have been very helpful.
When we lost at Aston Villa the season they went down Hennessey made a mistake and it ended 1-0, he never regained his composure after that for the whole time Pardew was here and it did have an impact on his results, recently Hennessey had improved greatly ..but I doubt he is in a good place on the pitch at the moment with all this crap going around, very unfortunate for him.

I understand that we have to grind results out, but at least under Pulis I always thought we would. Now it maybe Hodgson's tactics, but I also feel that the players had more spirit and belief in their abilities.I feel under Hodgson, they just don't buy into his tactical approach, and don't enjoy playing his way.

Have to say watching Palace at home over the last full calendar year has been very depressing and a complete contrast to the previous three years

I remember Danny Murphy and Brede Hangeland talking about how they loved working under RH because of the discipline he brought - training was dull but every player knew their job. That's fine if you have those sort of players but I'd say we have more expressive players who want to play with freedom. Other managers we had were more about unshackling the players, and arguably they brought about more spirited performances and certainly more exciting football. Maybe it's about a clash of styles between our current manager and playing staff.

Last season the discipline, organisation, shape etc etc was seen as a positive. This season it is viewed as a negative.

I very much doubt that any thought has been given to this at this juncture as Hodgson's contract runs to the end of the following season, he kept us up last season against all the odds and we are not in the relegation zone at present so a replacement is not a priority. If God forbid we really struggle and slip into the relegation zone then minds might be concentrated in this direction.

This is why we repeat the same cycle.

Last season we had that one more player in RLC to dribble at or play one two’s through defences. The football wasn’t much different, it just had the individuals to produce something rather than instructions such as overlapping or nothing from Schlupp when there’s Meyer we should be trying to build on his first year in this country.

I’ll be honest - it was a strange tactical decision. But it seems that we as a fanbase are hardwired to demand a managerial replacement after a defeat in some morbid rinse and repeat manner. Who would really benefit from replacing Roy in this current climate? We’d risk destabilisation.

Quite simply, playing 8 defensive players at home against the likes of Watford (GK, Back 4, 3 Defensive Mids) is shocking. No ambition. Pure negativity. RH is doing to us what he did to England.
Chasing the game and sticks Wilf in the centre and brings on Schlupp? He must have noticed that Wilf down the middle doesn't work surely? The bloke is f***ing clueless.

I suppose one could argue that Schlupp has scored for us this season, at Fulham and Man C.I believe he started out as a striker so has got attacking instincts but of course over the years he has been deployed in different roles.

You can understand peoples furore with bringing on Schlupp instead of Wickham BUT as you have highlighted there is method to the madness here. Schlupp has scored this season when coming on. I also get the feeling he does not have faith in Wickham currently.

Schlupp of course has scored, besides I don't think that a Benteke/Wickham combination would really be that effective.Maybe Hodgson and I are on the same wavelength !

I think Schlupp has scored four times and is versatile and strong.

Wickham has been off for over 2 years it will take some time, he has actually been on as a sub and missed sitters.

A sub is very difficult, you only get a very short time, I guess you have to get lucky.

I wonder what SP thinks as he watches this turgid crap week in week out? Or does he care? As long as we finish in 17th place everything is fine!
