There is no one else now. We've burned through the list of secure Premier League Managers. Next one has to be a younger character we are taking a chance on.

Could go the way of Eddie Howe or could go the way of Frank De Boer.

Either way, our next Manager needs to be recruited without a panic button in place, at the end of the season with a shortlist of specific candidates and hopefully some guidance and transition from Roy.

Doing the whole emergency sacking mid-season because we are struggling simply won't work anymore and we'll likely go down.

A new young Manager probably won't have the infrastructure or knowledge to keep us up and we have run out of Allardyce, Pulis, Pardew's etc.

Roy is our only option for this time until the end of the season. Considering it's probably only his objective to keep us up rather than mid-table security that the fans crave, he's probably more than capable (injuries to Sakho and Zaha would probably see us down though).

Roy Hodgson is one of the most respected football coaches in Europe.

We are lucky to have him, he's had no money to spend and he has masterminded victories against billionaires of Man city and Wolves away in past few weeks.

I'm going to Anfield on Sat and will get behind him and the team. Lets go ruin another party, cos thats what we like to do.

Excellent post and puts things into perspective.

I think it's his own team letting him down because it does take a Tactical masterclass to beat Man City away. That would have taken a lot of technical knowledge and also decades of soft-skill knowledge to put it in the players heads it was actually possible.

It's just so frustrating to go and get 3 points from City and then lose 2 points at home to Cardiff. Go to Wolves away where we'd of taken a 2-1 defeat and win but then lose 2-1 to Watford at home.

If you look at it as an outsider, it's completely the Player's fault, you can even point to which player in certain matches, James McCarthur against Watford for example.

Roy just doesn't take the pressure off himself by doing Subs at 60 minutes. I think if he did and showed fans 'look, I can put Wickham and Meyer on at 60 but it doesn't make a blind bit of difference we still can't score' then there would be 0 fans calling for his head.

There'd be a lot of annoyance at the Team's failing attackers and the Board's lack of investment but not Roy. Where fans grow frustrated is when they think they know better and see a player they think can help score (Meyer) only come on after 80+ minutes. I wonder if Roy does it to protect the Team?

yes i will be behind Roy and the team every game because thats what true supporters do,

as for subs yes he does leave it late always has if it dont work at least he has given it a fair chance of changing the game i have no probs with that

as for investment Roy come in when we already spent out,the club has invested 180million more than whats come in from sales since 2013

Think he should retire in the summer, has struggled to make decisions this year with subs and we always seem to make them after we have gone behind instead of when we can all see the tide turning in matches.

We need a manager with top league experience but still with some youth on their side.

Do you not think the problem might be the weakness of his bench?, in any event it would be madness to change now and as for the end of the season, well that depends on what league we are in!

This is correct however the work should already have started on identifying and monitoring potential candidates that fit the club. History tells us that this probably isn't the case and we'll be scrambling as usual when Roy decides to call it a day.

That’s the point. By leaving it late to make subs he hasn’t given it enough time.

Southampton had (And might still have)a dossier of potential managers that was constantly updated, with intelligence on those considered the best fits for Southampton.

They appointed Puel who only lasted a season, then Pellegrino who never lasted a season and he was followed by Hughes who wasn't there that long.
