as i said about Teke didnt see him stop scoring, tell us who would you buy to replace the others,2 have gone one may go,wickham was a small risk couldnt see major injury which happened not a old injury, schlupp hit and miss but who would you buy to replace him,

so we have 7 players that are current first team from wise spending, mistakes or chances will be made all clubs do them

Meyer is a nifty little player, and no, we don't play to his strengths. I think this is an example of poor recruitment because we're paying a lot for a player who doesn't fit our system.

You didn't see Benteke stop scoring? 3 goals in his last 35 games, I think more than that. We got mugged off by Liverpool, dragging out that transfer until the end of the window and then caving in to their full demands. I don't know who I'd replace Schlupp with, but £13 million and £55k p/w for someone of Championship quality at best? Not wise spending.

Yes there are some good buys in the team, but I think our recruitment is demonstrably poor from the over-inflated wages and transfer fees of many of our players, and the rarity with which we make a profit on anyone we sell on. We buy donkeys for gold and sell them for peanuts.

None of those look like wise spending. Also, rumours are that Meyer is on anything up to £170,000 p/w. A player who doesn't fit our system and rarely makes the team.

That was a BS rumour from the Daily Fail. Several more valid sources reported it at less than half that (£80k) one of which is close to the club & rarely gets it wrong.

You could also argue that half the first team do not fit our 'system' in their natural position too. I mean, we've been playing 442 for months with (usually) no actual striker on the pitch.

Agree on Meyer. Needs nurturing but there’s a benefit to be had from it. Unfortunately who is known to be available and cost comes first, regardless of the result, although there is some expectancy of that I guess, unless you’re scouting is thorough and on going. Maybe it will be, or not.

I'd still expect to see minimalist interventions from the board to prolong a return on their respective interests but they're all dipping their snouts not investing in the future of a football club. Expect very little and you won't be disappointed!

The books (which are available in the public domain) show he's on about £120k a week salary if my memory doesn't fail me, I'll try and find a link.

There is little doubt that Benteke paid back a portion of that investment in that season's goals.

Since then he's been a bit of a passenger in the forward line and I'm hopeful that this was mainly down to carrying that injury and that we will see a better and more productive Benteke from here on.

We will see.....what's certain is that if he is now half the player.....that's one hell of an albatross to be carrying fiscally because no one's going to take on a fifty percent version......So he'd sit out his contract.

Directors' wages are shown though aren't they? At least in total. Also total wages are shown - not individual player's wages.

The same could easily happen again without investment in the club ... our owners are in it for profit and are probably doing very nicely.

I don't subscribe to the 'you've never had it so good' philosophy because I choose to pay out good money to watch Palace like everyone else.

Spurs have invested heavily in their team and stadium and they're definitely no comparison to Palace.

Yeah, but people were paying out that money during far worse times.

It's just true....We haven't had it so good.

This is rarefied air for Palace and while we had some luck in the Championship..... it also didn't happen by accident.

You're incorrect as he's a director. Here's the info broken down by a nifty website concerning itself with all things football finance.

[Link]

2.15 million salary plus around 500k going out to different companies he's director of along with repayment of a 6m loan, 250k interest on the loan.

This is back in 2017. I imagine his salary has only gone up.
