It's not a long term solution to a problem and presumably is only offered in extreme wintry conditions? Given the limited accommodation available, referrals must be coordinated centrally by the council or specialised charities rather than an open door at the stadium ... but nevertheless, it's a decent thing to do.

Agreed...again.

Absurd statement.

Think before you write.

Please.

Whats absurd about three points made
First its the wrong thread to post on
Second the poster may have a spare room
Third it is redistribution of space in the same way we can all pay more tax and redistribute it so all these homeless people have a roof.
Even though some do actually choose to be homeless but lets not put facts into it.
Please.

No, not the ‘same way’ at all. One is a personal move and the other is institutional and brought about by a change in the system

Secondly, there is more than a whiff of personal judgement about your post. I have no idea what Bert the Head does in his life and neither do you. I wouldn’t presume to pass comment on that.

Your remark looks like a snide comment as if to say “Well, go on then – give somebody who’s homeless a room if you care that much”.

Even if people did offer a spare room to a homeless person, is that really an answer to the homeless issue? Of course not. The whole sorry situation needs tackling governmentally, root and branch. It’s a complicated subject and one that deserves more thought than bitchy personal pops at people who express concern.

I’ve no doubt that, maybe, there are some that choose to live on the streets but so what? Does that mean that there isn’t a terrible problem with the increase in homeless numbers and we shouldn’t address that fact?

Great initiative.

In the past year I’ve met some people who’ve been homeless at one stage or another. Whilst bad life decisions are a factor it’s surprising how much can be down to luck.

We’ve got a stadium set up for catering for 26,000 people and players who earn more than £10,000 a day.

Helping those who need and deserve it to get back on their feet is something society should be doing more off.
