We currently have Wickham, Benteke and Ayew upfront. It would be tricky to bring in a decent striker who is going to sit on the bench and first team strikers will be very pricey right now. Sako was on high wages when he was here, however, looked like a good squad player in the last couple of months before he left. If we are getting Sako on lower wages that we had him before then it’s not a bad deal and as people have said low risk as it shouldn’t take him too long to settle in.

Also, I don’t think we are going down this year, so if not spending money now (when we know that players are more expensive than they should be) means we can spend more in the summer then again it is not a bad temporary solution

Pulis loves his type of player but he doesn't want him and won't play him in a division lower than ours and yet we are going to take him
You really could not make it up!
All the while the likes of Maja, Bolasie and so on pass us by and they would definitely be a better bet than this bloke.
JEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The most worrying thing is we don't seem to have any strategy at all. It's a scatter gun approach like when we first got promoted with Holloway in charge.

Bournemouth are signing young English talent even if they are paying over the odds, at least these kids are going to be around and most probably sold at a profit.

Need a serious shake up from top to bottom before our impending relegation.

I think the resigning of a fringe player this window pretty much sums up my expectations.

Actually to be fair, I was content with being disappointed with no signings but this is perhaps more of an insult, on a par with signing two players who will never play for the club and a Sorloth!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

We no money til summer, can only loan or get freebies til then, even the loans cant have big up front fees I imagine.

so that means its not a scattergun approach, its just the way it has to be til summer sadly.

Correct. How many players have we signed since coming up who weren't already proven in English football? I can only think of Luka.

I can’t see why this is a surprise.
We offered Sako new terms last season and again at the end of the summer window when we only failed to get him because we didn’t have space in the squad.
He’s got a goal in him, knows how the team operates and is obviously rated by Hodgson.
He’s not a long term solution but could make a useful contribution from now until the end of the season.

Some of the reaction on here is ridiculous. We've had 7 players leave, 7 players who arguably are of a lower quality than Sako.
WE NEED NUMBERS. Noones saying hes going to be our main attacking option. We need players who can come in and not take weeks/months to bed in.
Also, lets be honest here, before his injury he was on a great run and was getting alot of praise on here.

Reading some of the comments from grown adults on this thread actually makes me cringe.
people threatening to send their season ticket back because we signed a backup winger for free who knows the club and the players.

Just wait until next thursday before you start ranting. If it turns out that all we signed was Perri and Sako, then yes its a bad window, but the window isnt shut yet.

Sort it out

This is a no risk signing providing it is just to the end of the season. Our squad is desperately light and at his best he's not a bad option from the bench. He also knows the squad, the manager and seems a good bloke to have around.

I'm not going to lie and say I'm excited by this, but if rumours are correct his salary is only (in football terms) £30k pw and there is no fee, unlike with a loan, then it is a cheap signing of someone who don't forget scored important goals for us less than a year ago.
